Rakka woke up from a dream of falling from the sky, moments after, she is welcomed by a group of females that look like angels in a very strange new world. She then develops her own set of wings and a halo on top of her head. As the story progresses in a new realm, she later realizes that there are walls surrounding the whole town of Haibane Renmei. She builds a relationship with her new found family and lives in the quiet confined world along with wingless-halo-less beings while trying to uncover the mystery behind the impenetrable wall that no one dares to cross. Rakka gains our number ten spot because she is the perfect example of an anime angel character. Given the obvious wings and halo, she also has the characteristics of being holy and she somehow has a celestial connection with birds. She also shows deep attachment to her new found family and is very curious about the mysteries surrounding her life. Her character is a great representation if we were to describe how angels would live if they were sent to the human world, even though it was never determined she was an angel, we definitely like to believe she is!

High School DxD follows the story of Issei Hyoudou, a young high school student who gets killed on his first date. He is later reincarnated as a devil servant by the beautiful Rias Gremory, who turns out to be an elite devil and a senior student at his school. Issei must now learn to fight as they enter an adventure in where angels and devils collide. Being one of the many female protagonists of High School DxD. Irina is a good candidate on our anime angels list as she was reincarnated as an angel because of her devotion to God. Even her battle attire looks very religious. She has an upbeat and cheerful personality and has a deep admiration to Issei despite being an angel. If you want a hilarious harem action anime with beautiful angels and devils, this anime should definitely be a part of your watched list.

Meet Kotarou, an average student with a normal life and normal problems, such as stress on exams and just simply grown up decisions. Out of nowhere, a strange girl named Misha knocks on his door asking to be friends. Things quickly escalate as it turns out that she is actually an angel in training. Misha gets into a lot of trouble as she has no idea how things work on Earth causing more harm than good. The reason why Misha gets our ninth angel spot is because this show really captures the essence of how an angel would live with ordinary humans. She speaks innocently like a child and tries really hard to make everyone around her smile. She is also very optimistic and protective of Kotarou. Pita Ten is a very adorable show for kids and kids at heart. If you want a show you can share with the little ones, and somehow give them a glimpse of how great angels are, this wonderful anime would be a good choice.

Queen’s Blade: Rebellion is the third chapter in the Queen’s Blade franchise. Set after the events of the last season, the once noble Queen Claudette is corrupted by power and has oppressed a nation under tyranny. It is up to Annelotte, an exiled princess and a new generation of brave rebels, come together and overthrow the Queen and somehow restore peace in their lands. Nanael squeezes her way to our number seven spot to represent a seductive angel warrior. She has the appearance of a celestial being wearing polka-dots panties with little armor. Nanael was tasked to watch and join the Queen's Blade tournament. She is considered friendly and very clumsy but is also a skilled angel. Equipped with a Celestial Sabre, she gets down to business when fighting against mortals, even if she considers them inferior beings. If you want to be purified in the Ecchi-est way possible, you will surely have a blast watching Nanael in Queen’s Blade: Rebellion.

Moving on to our number six spot is Flonne from Makai Senki Disgaea. Laharl, the prince of darkness wakes up after a two-year slumber only to be welcomed by the chaos left by his father’s death in the Netherworld. He sets a journey and tries to reclaim the throne his father left. Along with his unfaithful vassal, Etna and an angel assassin, Flonne, they restore order to the demented Netherworld. Flonne is an angel assassin trainee who is tasked to destroy the demon king, only to find out that he is already dead and is in the process of being replaced by Laharl, the demon king’s son. Due to her kind angelic personality, she believes that the new demon king has a good heart. Flonne deserves a spot on our list because she worries about everyone and is an advocate of love and peace. Her innocence and protective behavior make her a great angel character. If you were a fan of the hit-game Disgaea or just want to see the adventures of demons and an angel, this twelve-episodes anime will surely keep you entertained.

Dokuro Mitsukai, our super cute angelic assassin from the future takes our number five spot. Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan revolves around the daily life of high school student, Sakura Kusakabe. Jumping to future events, Sakura discovers a way for women to gain immortality. God is not pleased with this, so he sends his angel assassin Dokuro, to go back to the past and assassinate Sakura to prevent him in inventing technology capable of immortality. Dokuro, on the other hand, spares him and came up with a plan to keep him busy and far from the thoughts of a never ending life. Dokuro isn’t our typical angel character, which made her the perfect candidate for our list. Hidden underneath her cute halo and innocent smile is her brutal tendencies to kill Sakura. Accompanied by her magical spiked bat called “Excalibolg”, she mercilessly clubs her victims to death in very amusing ways. She also has the capability to bring them back to life which makes it very funny. If you are looking for an extremely fun series to watch, this anime will leave you with the phrases “wtf?!” and keep you laughing till the end.

Flying to our number four spot is Tenko the red-haired angel from Kamisama Kazoku. This anime focuses on Samatarou, the son of god who tries to live as a normal high-school student to learn more about humans in order to better protect and serve them in the future. He is accompanied by Tenko, his personal guardian angel who looked after him until they grew up. Samatarou’s life changes when he meets Kumiko, a girl who just transferred to their school, which he immediately falls in love with. He tries to win her love without relying on his godly powers, while Tenko realizes that she has feelings for him. Tenko deserves the number four position in our list because of her innocent personality. Acting like a child who occasionally motivates Samatarou and punishes him for his bad deeds, she stays true to the concept of being a guardian angel. Despite the fact that she develops feelings toward Samatarou, she still helps him to get closer to the girl he loves. If you are looking for an anime filled with mushy moments, a little drama, a spice of fantasy and a lot of romance. Tenko will surely entertain your need for a good love triangle story.

If angels have a naughty side, it would be this anime. Sora no Otoshimono tells the story of Tomoki Sakurai, a kind and sincere person who is also very perverted. Living in a calm and peaceful town, Tomoki spends his time peeping at his childhood neighbor. He often dreams about a mysterious girl but completely forgets about her when he wakes up. Suddenly, an anomaly drops a mysterious entity from another dimension who then calls herself Icarus, an animal-angel who suddenly becomes Tomoki’s servant. The quiet life of Tomoki stops as they both embark on a journey full of romance and mystery. Ikaros takes our top three spot simply because of her cuteness. She is technically classified as an “Angeloid” or an android angel. She becomes attached to Tomoki from the very get-go of the series and heeds to his every wish. Much like fantasy angels, Ikaros has the ability to grant wishes through the use of magical cards. Also equipped with angel wings in a voluptuous body, she would clearly be a great candidate if you are to describe how you want angels to look like when you get to see one. This is a fun and perverted take on angels, along with a little romantic relationship that blossoms between characters.

Teleporting her way into the number two spot is Jibril from No Game No Life. This anime follows the story if siblings, Sora and Shiro. They are both considered NEET, who soon receive a strange email challenging them to a chess match which changes their lives. Teleported to a world where games are the only way to settle conflicts, the genius duo tries to unite the races of the new world by dominantly winning all the games. Jibril, is Sora and Shiro's angel servant. She is obsessed with knowledge and owned the National Library of Elchea. Despite being an underling, Jibril happily serves the duo because they share their need for more knowledge in order to win more games. Other than her perfect angel appearance, Jibril gets on our list because of her love for knowledge. She has a great sense of honor and believes that anyone can win in a fair game. Filled with clever comedy and a good story, watch the cast of No Game No Life as they duel things out in some very interesting games.

Sharing our first place for badass anime angel characters are the Anarchy sisters, Panty and Stocking. These angel sisters were kicked out of heaven because of some nasty behavior. They are thrown away to the treacherous Daten City, a place in between heaven and hell, where foul creatures have gone berserk and feed on evil desires. Panty and Stocking do their best to exterminate these wicked ghosts to collect enough Heaven Coins and find a way back into heaven. Humanity’s last hope for survival is in the hands of the Anarchy sisters. Stocking is the youngest of the Anarchy sisters and is one of the main characters in Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt series. Her name derives from, yes obviously her stocking, when taken off becomes blade weapons. Taking a different approach of the usual good-hearted angels, Stocking purifies evil by slicing them to pieces, literally. Panty is Stocking's sister and contrary to a typical angel’s personality, Panty loves sex and spends most of her free time with random men in love hotels. Showing more of a bad girl side compared to her sister, her name is also the source of her power, transforming her panties into a handgun named Back Lace. One angelic feature that she has is that her bullets only penetrate spirits and has no effect whatsoever to humans. If you want to see angels in a totally different naughty point of view, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt will surely keep you entertained.

As aforementioned, the term loli refers to a character that displays very childlike characteristics, and that is the selling factor with regards to the genre. There are hundreds if not thousands of anime and manga that cater to the loli lifestyle, and the trend continues to grow as time passes. The characters don't necessarily have to be young in age, but their appearance is what gives off an innocent and vibrant feel that grabs the attention of the viewer. While most anime focus on trying to throw in various combinations to add some spark, Strawberry Marshmallow really tries to keep things all simple much like you'd expect for a slice of life anime. With all of that being said, let us jump right into the mix and give you more details on this slice of life comedy.

One of the very popular anime that truly define the culture is Strawberry Marshmallow. Named Ichigo Mashimaro in Japan, the show revolves around cute girls doing cute things in cute ways, which makes up the fabric of the entire show. The slice of life adventure revolves around character Chika along with her sister Nobue and all of their friends, who spend their time together to help each other become better individuals. All four of them are elementary school students which promote the very cute and loli direction, while adding in some very subtle comedic relief to bring forth a nice vibe to the series. All of them have their own separate adventures such as the girls going on vacation with each other, to Nobue on her search for the perfect job. Ana is American while the other girls are from Japan, so there is a slight mixture of the two cultures that you can see throughout the show. A lot of popular memes have stemmed from this show such as the loli haet pizza which has a picture of the adorable Matsuri crying in front of a steaming hot pizza. The meme was supposed to reference a user on 4chan who wanted to express their strong dislike for pizza, but instead created a typo that sparked a huge online meme loli trend. We can only give thanks to this wonderful series for the meme, but also for its wonderful story which represents the many aspects of real life from the loli persona.

The story of Gochuuman Usagi Desu Ka? revolves around Kokoa Hoto, who just moved into a new town in hopes to start fresh life in school. On her adventure to seek housing she unexpectedly comes across a cafe called Rabbit House, which to her imagination was filled with very cute rabbits that she could cuddle and play with. Unfortunately, she realizes that it is just an ordinary cafe that only has one rabbit named Tippy who doesn't really behave like a rabbit, and a quiet girl named Chino. After some research Kokoa comes to realize that the boarding house she had been searching for was the very same one she was standing in, and that her job was to be a waitress. This slice of life comedy follows her life of being a waitress, while learning to balance her school and work lifestyle through making new friends. What makes this a very loli style anime is in the very cute and innocent demeanor that Kokoa and her friends display throughout the show, especially when Sharo makes her way into the scene. Sharo who is one of her work mates is very much a loli whenever she treats her customers to a drink of tea, as she mimics a very childlike animation in her maid outfit which is combined with her very adorable blushing face as you'll see in later episodes. All of the characters in the show are all very cute in their own fashion, their eyes gleaming with excitement and ambition. Rather than focusing this show on the typical over the top loli style with superhuman powers, it crafts a believable world that we all can relate to and become attached to. Rize is the one that stands out the most because she has this really outlandish attitude due to her military upbringing, but when paired with her overly cute demeanor your heart strings start to pull in awe. Whether you're into slice of life or not is up to you, but we strongly suggest giving Gochuuman Usagi Desu Ka a try because it will take you to a new place, and promote a nice loli appeal.

Loli is all about embracing a lifestyle that many have taken to truly embrace a life that is full of youth and energy. Many anime also share this sentiment where the main characters live a life of thrills and carefree feelings that truly define the lifestyle. We all should take note of this since much of our world nowadays is all about hustle and bustle, and showing little appreciation for the once beautiful youthful lives we always enjoyed. Loli isn't promoting anything bad, but really promoting a world where everyone can come together and share experiences without feeling too terrible about it, all the while looking very cute. With that being said, we decided to throw in a nice anime that truly defines loli while incurporating sports into the mix.

Ro-Kyu-Bu is the final chapter in our loli adventures, but we thought that it stood out as one that really captures the real loli essence mixed with a genre you'd rarely see with loli's. The anime revolves around Hasegawa Subaru, who is a 1st year high schooler who is a very talented basketball player. All of his dreams were cut short when a scandal broke out with the team captain leading the team to disband. After the air had cleared Subaru found himself in a position where he didn't feel all too comfortable to continue pursuing his basketball dreams, and so he felt it was right to build better connections with those around him. The girls team which consists of Hinata, Airi, Tomoka. Maho, and more, is in constant battle with the boys squad who are always trying to flirt their way into conversations with these adorable looking girls. You are immediately greeted with loli style everywhere from the facial expressions to the very strong voice acting that you'd get with Kana Hanazawa as Tomoka, who finds herself drunk and quirky in episode 8. The entire cast is paired with your favorite loli voice actresses which really provide the anime with a wonderful setting despite how clumsy the basketball team seems. Hinata is the smallest of all the loli characters who often speaks in a polite manner but her behavior often becomes random which adds flavor to the series. We do see a little bit more of ecchi in this show compared to our other two picks with Airi playing that role, but loli based anime tend to have some seductive characteristics behind everything, which is what makes Ro-Kyu-Bu! such a thrilling experience. The first few episodes of the series will surely entice you as we are greeted with a perverted coach who greets the girls as “imouto maids”, to the girls playing with each other in the shower in very ecchi like manners. While some may call it a fan service, we here at Honey's Anime felt that Subaru and his colleagues showcased a great example of the loli culture in Japan, and how it is represented not only through the typical format we're aware of, but also through sports and slice of life. We hope you enjoy this pick as it really was one that stood out for many of us.

Nadeko is a young girl and the friend of Araragi's sister. After not meeting him for so long, she still remembers him. Nadeko was introduced as a shy and quiet girl who was easily amused. She has quite a soft and fragile voice while speaking. Eventually, she develops a crush on Araragi and starts calling him Koyomi-oniichan. This crush continues on even after Senjougahara and Koyomi got together. Nadeko holds the shy and quiet traits of the dandere. A sub-characteristic of a dandere character is usually the soft voice that has which complements their shyness. Nadeko's shyness is exemplified by her soft voice and her tendency to hold her hands together. Apart from her body language, Nadeko spoke very little. Along the way, Nadeko starts to talk more with Araragi while her dere dere moments play out in her head.

Umi is one of the founders of the Muse. She has a strong head on her shoulders and is usually the most reasonable one and pragmatic amongst her other group members. Despite having the qualities of leadership, this role was passed on instead to Honoka. In contrast however, Umi is actually very shy in front of others and hated the idea of wearing short skirts. When teased, Umi also gets very flustered. The Love Live! series ended just a few months ago and as such, we would like to mention a great Love Live! character. Unlike the other flamboyant, dazzling and confident members, Umi possesses dandere traits. She enjoys reading as shown by the fact that she is the group's main lyricist. Apart from that, Umi’s traditional upbringing is the reason for her excelling in many solitary Japanese arts such as archery and traditional dance. Umi also has difficulties expressing herself when asked about the group's well being as well. Amongst the 9 member of Muse, Umi is the veritable dandere of the group.

Shiraishi was seen to be an aloof student. Her results are exceptional and she is well-liked by all the teachers. Many often think that she is just cold as she does not talk much to her other classmates and also by the fact that she is beautiful and has high grades. However, the truth is that her first group of friends had simply used her intelligence and did not care much for her. This made her jaded with making friends and she refused to continue her studies. This was changed when she and Yamada had that fateful kiss... Urara represents the dandere character that does not fall into the kuudere category. She may not be shy, like most danderes. Further, her silence is not to make her character cool, it just represents her reticent nature due to a bad past. While surrounded with the people she can genuinely call her friends, her personality changes and she will actually hold a proper conversation with them and show her caring side. This is even more so with Yamada as both of them had a developing relationship.

Shiori is one of the capture targets of the anime. She has trouble speaking and keeps most of her thoughts to herself. Due to the fact that she has no friends, she is extremely fond of books and escapes into the different worlds that they provide. Shiori’s usual hangout is the library because well - that's where all the books are. At first, she was even shown to have trouble holding a simply conversation as she was too shy to speak. Amongst all of the targets in the series, Shiori is a unique individual. As Keima needs to talk to the heroines in order to make them love him, how can he succeed with Shiori if they can't even communicate? As such, the plan was to be in the library constantly and start on common topics. Due to her lack of acquaintances, Shiori was quite intrigued by Keima and slowly started to open up to him. It was there we find out that Shiori had longed to be able to express herself but her shyness and over-conscious head prevents her from doing so. Shiori is a true dandere not only to the series, but to the characterisation as well.

Kotomi is a child genius. She often hangs out in the library alone until Tomoya came along. An awkward individual, she has problems getting along with everybody as she is shy and does not possess general people skills (we think it's due to all that time she spent with books). Kotomi worries about getting bullied by others. Luckily for her, Kotomi managed to find a group of people in the Drama Club whom all eventually became close friends with her. Kotomi is the overlooked dandere character of Clannad. A little bit shy, a little bit awkward, and a little bit antisocial - Kotomi's character has just about a little bit of every dandere traits mixed into her. Her reclusive nature over the years hindered her ability to communicate with people and she needs assistance from Tomoya. Slowly but surely, Kotomi became good friends with everyone that was introduced to her

Appearing as a quiet and emotionless girl, Karuta usually doesn’t speak much. It is only to those that she cares about. Karuta deeply enjoys food and can never be seen without something to munch on. Her childhood friend is Watanuki who has a huge crush on her. Although Karuta often seems to be very distance, she does return his feelings which often caused him to blush. Her ending segment also suggests her potential feelings for Watanuki as well if you read the lyrics. Haruta’'s dere side has never been explored much. Since her only obsession is food and her lack of communicating with others only masks her true feelings for others. Only at small segments in the anime where Karuta genuinely professed her feelings for others, then are we aware of her feelings. Her dandere side is actually quite well-established since most of the time, she really does not talk at all... Again, it's not for the sake of being cool, it's just that Karuta prefers to keep herself busy with the things that she likes - food and protecting Watanuki. D'awwww...

One of the promised girls to Raku Ichijou, Kosaki seems to be a close childhood friend along with Chitoge Kirisaki. Now, as a high school student, Kosaki is the epitome of the traditional Japanese woman. Polite, gracious and soft-spoken, she is also extremely shy and becomes easily embarrassed in front of Raku. Kosaki is innocent and lacks self-confidence, as well, needing the support of her friends to push her and Raku together. Though Kosaki’s feelings never reach him, she is content with just being beside him and talking to him. The tsundere character obviously belongs with Chitoge. In contrast to her, Kosaki is less direct with her approach - actually... what approach??? Most of the time she is too timid to make her advances! It was so bad that Kosaki didn't even dare to give her handmade chocolate to Raku for Valentine's Day. Her feelings are often suppressed because she lacks the courage to express them out, hence giving the impression that she does not talk a lot. Even though it is her personal mission to get Raku to notice her, she usually backs off in the end due to her embarrassment and bashfulness.

Hinata has long since had a crush on Naruto for as long as Team 7 was undergoing training. In less tense situations such as episodes of Naruto's daily routine, you will often see her in the background stalking him. The reason for Hinata’s affection is because Naruto had always been the figure of support for her. To Hinata, to see someone surviving in a harsher reality but yet maintaining that positive attitude is the fuel for her own courage and self-esteem. Naruto literally forms a part of her and to that, she will willingly follow him to the ends of the world if needed. Do you realize, that however long that Naruto has aired, Hinata has been chasing him since the start? That itself is something! While it may be creepy, let's give Hinata the benefit of the doubt. It takes an incredible amount of effort for her to keep up her routine. This only shows the extent of her love for Naruto. The only problem, her shyness and her soft spoken nature in general. Of course, she's dandere! Hinata has tried countless of times to talk to Naruto but often gets too alarmed by her own actions to continue further.

Her true identity is that of a humanoid robot. It was never clear if she possesses emotions but one thing that is clear is her limited social skills. In this spin off series, although her personality is different, she still has dandere traits. The current Yuki is a klutz in nature, gets flustered easily by constant teasing and stumbling whenever she sees her crush - Kyon. No doubt she has her friends support, the battle for Kyon's heart is still a tough one! In this alternate universe, Yuki still has traits of danderism. Not all danderes are reclusive as shown in this spin off. The Yuki now is leaning more towards the shy being a klutz part of being a dandere. She still rarely speaks of course - but only to Kyon as her dandere self is more focused on him. When others make fun of her relationship with Kyon, it becomes apparent that she becomes highly distressed and unsettled.

Her artistic skills are amongst the highest of the standards. She is a genius when it comes to art. If only the same can be said for just about everything else... Mashiro is entirely dependent on another person's care as her eccentricity caused her to fail in performing daily routines. She is mostly aloof and has her heads high above the clouds as though as she is living in another world. Communicating with other people is also an issue for her as Mashiro does not understand the conformity to social norms and acts unconventionally. Mashiro is the last of the different kinds of danderes out there. She is the embodiment of the word danmari - to be reclusive and taciturn. She speaks little, not for the sake of being cool or tsun - but because she is just... well... eccentric and weird. Her dere side is developed after she realise the care and concern that Sorata has for her. Hence, this modern character possesses the original traits of a dandere - the quiet character who eventually develops a dere side. That is why she ranks at the top of our list.

Kicking off our top ten anime punches is Accel World, where Haruyuki squares off against Seiji in an intense battle. Words are traded between the two fighters before much of the action starts to explode. We decided to choose this awesome punch because it was a great start for the rest of the incredible punches on our list. Haruyuki has had enough of Seiji's talking and so he charges up his robot suit and makes his way towards Seiji at Mach four speed. In a scream of anger, Haruyuki unleashes a megaton punch that sends Seiji to another universe and changes the color of the moon from a blue to a purple tint, which is evidence of how unbelievably powerful his punch was. We highly suggest checking out Accel World not just for this spectacular punch, but also the wonderful story that comes along with it.

Akame ga Kill makes its way to our number nine spot on the top ten anime punches, and this time we have Tatsumi against Nyau. A lot took place during episode 8 but this fight was definitely one of the finer moments, since it really gave us a glimpse of Tatsumi's true power. The fight started off with the two introducing each other graciously before the true battle ensued. As the battle erupted we could clearly start to see who was ahead in terms of power, and Tatsumi was that very individual. Nyau tried his best to fight back delivering counter attacks to keep Tatsumi at bay, but all it took was a transformation to seal the deal. Nyau and Tatsumi clashed fists just before Tatsumi unleashed a critical punch that sent Nyau flying back and pierced him into the wall covered in blood. Tatsumi ended up winning but lost all of his power shortly after, with his colleagues coming to his aid.

Fairy Tail released during the fall of October 2009 and since then it has grown dramatically in popularity. The series concluded in March of 2013 but it made sure to leave a mark on the anime community with its fun loving characters, and over the top action. One of our favorite punch scenes from Fairy Tail was in episode 115 between Gildarts and Bluenote. While the fight ended quite quickly, the action that took place prior was pure gold. Bluenote was on the edge and Gildarts had all the momentum on his end, and so he took advantage of the situation and connected with a super uppercut that sent Bluenote flying upwards in a spiral motion, leaving everyone speechless including ourselves. The juxtaposition of Gildarts fist with Bluenote's chin was just perfect as it connected with the right amount of power to send him to the next dimension and us to grab a tissue from the tears of laughter. Fairy Tail is a must watch for anyone who loves comedy and action!

Shizuo is the tall, slim, and well dressed quiet hero who wanders around the city of Ikebukuro as a bodyguard for a debt collector. Most of the time he is generally very nondescript in his demeanor until he's provoked, which happened early in episode 3 of the series. Shizuo carries intense animosity towards Izaya who always taunts him knowing that he has a short fuse. In this particular scene Izaya, Shizuo and the rest of the cast are surrounded by the gang known as The Dollars. One of the members randomly loses his cool under fear and charges toward Shizuo with a wooden stick breaking it over his head. Unfortunately for this guy, Shizuo doesn't take kindly to this warm welcome and delivers a punch directly into the face of the goon, knocking off every piece of clothing in mid air and landing naked onto the street. This punch was not only powerful but extremely funny since it was so deadly that it was able to strip off every item of clothing while doing so. If you haven't checked out the Durarara!! series we highly suggest you do so, along with its second season too!

Meliodas was a fan favorite among many anime fan for his big heart and bright personality. His relationship with Elizabeth was entertaining as they seemed like the perfect couple, while Diana looked on with jealousy. In this episode Ban and Meliodas square off in a tournament to retrieve Diana's hammer since it was stolen by the enemy. The two of them have fought before since they've been friends for a very long time, but Ban is aware of Meliodas' true strength. Unfortunately throughout the match Ban seems to forget that and as he is about to unleash his final blow eliminating Meliodas from the tournament, Meliodas delivers an incredible counter attack that even the human eye couldn't keep up with sending Ban flying out the ring. Without noticing, Elizabeth yells out to Meliodas thinking that he had been defeated but when the smoke clears Meliodas winks at Elizabeth reminding her he's alright. The camera then pans over to a building far in the distance where we can see Ban motionless in between the rocks further cementing the win for Meliodas. This was a spectacular scene because at first we couldn't tell what had happened due to the sheer speed that the punch was delivered, but once everything was explained we could clearly see why Ban ended up where he did.

Medaka Box was a great anime that released around the spring of 2012 and showcased a lot of fantastic action scenes, one of which we'll share with you. In this two episode fight, Medaka unleashes her fury on Unzen who had been terrorizing her for a very long time. Unable to suppress her emotions, she transforms into her second state and dashes her way towards Unzen. With marbles in his hand, Unzen also proceeds to dash towards her but with incredible speed Medaka delivers the first crushing blow digging her fist all the way into Unzen's stomach knocking the marbles out of his hand. This super punch sent Unzen flying through a library of concrete walls spewing blood from out of his mouth from the severe pain. This scene was very endearing to watch because Unzen was clearly mocking Medaka and that didn't seem to sit too well with her, and so to quiet him down she took matters into her own hands putting an end to his annoying banter.

Coming in at number four on our top anime punches has to be one of the greatest battles in anime history. The Frieza Saga was arguably one of the best of the entire Dragonball Z storyline, because of how many emotional ups and downs we had to experience while watching. The most emotional is when Krillin, Goku's childhood friend, loses his life at the hands of Frieza enraging Goku allowing him to transform into super saiya-jin. At this point Goku coerced Frieza to stop toying with him and go into his final form, which he agreed to do. Both at their full potential, Frieza tries to make the first move but Goku immediately avoids the attack unleashing us own explosive punch digging deep into Frieza's gut leaving him wincing in pain. All you can see is Goku standing over him as Frieza's eyes bulge out while trying to find a source of oxygen. The screen blurs out to show the power of Goku's punch and how it left Frieza in a dizzying state. Akira Toriyama created a golden moment here because it showed Goku's burning desire to avenge his fallen friends, and to also protect the Planet Namek which Frieza threatened to destroy. This is most certainly a must watch for any anime fan out there, because you'll truly be blown away.

We truly loved Terraformars for not only its education on insects and their methods of killing, but also for its incredible action scenes that blew us away. One very good example is in episode four when Macross and his team are up against a horde of roaches, and he must avenge Sheila since she was such an inspiration to him. Filled with immense rage, Macross dashes towards one roach driving his knee into its face similar to Sagat from Street Fighter, then being confronted again by another. With his blood boiling beyond comprehension he makes a quick dash towards the second enemy and proceeds with a shoryuken style uppercut that sends the roach head flying into the air in slow motion. At this very moment, your jaw drops at the incredible power of one punch that immediately kills the enemy and just in awe at the sheer bravery that Macross had to take on an entire group of Terraformars. If you haven't tuned into Terraformars yet, this may be the perfect time to since the show is wrapping up and the action is just unraveling.

Pound for pound Hajime no Ippo has the highest knockout percentage out of all anime, with every blow that is given making you wince in pain by the very sight of it. We chose it as number two because despite the New Dempsey Roll creating such an explosive impact, Saitama kills his opponents with one deadly blow and you can't really beat that. Nonetheless Makunouchi proves to us that he doesn't need a bald head or a yellow outfit to send his opponent to the next dimension, as you'll see in episode 13 of Hajime no Ippo Rising. Makunouchi squares off against longtime rival Ryuuhei Sawamura in a match to defend the title, and Sawamura had come prepared for Makunouchi's Dempsey Roll with a list of counter attacks to prevent being punished. While the counters had shown a lot of potential throughout the match, it was towards the final rounds where Makunouchi unleashed his New Dempsey Roll which completely countered Sawamura's counters, with every single blow hitting like a freight train leaving Sawamura helpless in the rapid succession of attacks coming his way. Each punch revved up like the engine of a car, and every bend increasing in speed like a fighter jet leaving Sawamura open to every shot to the face. In the end, Makunouchi unleashes his final blow stretching Sawamura's neck past human calculations leaving his eyes protruding out of his sockets like a frog. Makunouchi takes the title and walks out of the ring a champion yet again.

This number one should come as no surprise since the title itself says it all. Punching its way to number one is none other than Saitama himself, from One Punch Man. In episode 9 The Sea King continues to terrorize much of the city while the citizens remain helpless. Genos tries to hold off the king by throwing out an onslaught of attacks, nearly defeating the mammoth creature. Unfortunately none of it scathed him, and he returned the favor by spitting acid in order to kill the townspeople but Genos intercepted the acid ball rendering him useless. Mumen Rider makes his way to the scene and tries his best to overpower the beast but instead gets tossed to the corner like a rag doll, his entire pride shattered in one blow. Shortly after that Saitama walks in nonchalantly and confronts The Sea King, interrupting his introduction causing him to become enraged and throws out a massive punch. Within mere seconds all you can see is a big gaping hole in the middle of the king's body, his eye ball dangling out of his socket while the rest of his corpse comes crashing down to the ground in a massive heap. You can see how much force went into the punch simply by observing the wind that came out of Saitama's fist, blowing the crown off the king's head. We chose this as our number one simply because of how explosive the punch was, and how very quickly it ended the bout. Saitama just stands there as if it's just another day while the crowd cheers him on in victory. That is certainly a knockout punch we could never forget, and so we recommend you go and check out One Punch Man to see more wicked punches!

K-on is an anime about Harisawa Yui, a happy first-year student who bumps into a high school music club advertisement. Despite her lack of knowledge in playing an instrument, she still signed up. Luckily, the current band is looking for a way to save the club. Together with the energetic members of the Light Music Club, they create happy memories while making super lovable music. Ritsu or better known as “Ricchan”, as nicknamed by Yui, is the Light Music Club’s drummer. Like her instrument, she has a very upbeat personality and is the source of fun in the band. She loves to play pranks and make jokes but often forgets really important stuff. Ritsu is very well motivated and always makes sure that the morale of the band is high every time they practice. If you love music and anime, Ritsu and the rest of the K-on cast will keep your feet thumping while giving you a big smile.

She is as happy as her pigtails, literally speaking. Wait. What?! Yes boys and girls, her pigtails somehow react according to her mood. This is just one of the crazy antics of School Rumble. Tsukamoto Tenma a happy and friendly student has fallen in love with her classmate Karasuma Ooji. A love triangle develops as one of her classmates; Kenji Harima is also secretly in love with her. They both find a way to get near their crush and somehow confess their admiration. Do not be deceived by her childish looks. Tsukamoto Tenma is big when it comes to happiness, as proven by her wiggling pigtails. Her innocence and dense characteristic make her very friendly and gullible. Tenma never runs out of positivity and determination to get close to Karasuma. She is sometimes super kind to the extent that is willing to trust anyone. If you are looking for a happy approach to get close to your crush, make sure you check School Rumble.

Lucky Star portrays the adventure of four cute school girls. This lively humorous anime is all about friendship and their funny observations in the world. Do you want to know what happens when you fill an anime with a super lazy otaku (Konata Izumi), cute twins (Hiiragi sisters) and a witty school girl (Miyuki Takara)? The answer is “mayhem”. Their conversations might be simple topics and out of this world, but the complexity of their thoughts makes it so much fun to watch. One character that makes Lucky Star a great show is Tsukasa Hiiragi. She is a gentle day dreamer and never gets angry. She is very friendly and hates the thought of conflict which makes her very calm. Her good-natured innocence made her a part of our happy list. Considered to be very shy and quiet, Tsukasa is very hard to hate because there is simply nothing to hate about her. She has a slight obsession with her pink phone and sleeps a lot, but we find those very cute as well. This is the perfect anime if you want to erase that gloomy feeling you have.

Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge tells the story of Tanaka, a high school boy who is always in a blissful state of lethargy and has an ability to doze off in any given situation. He is accompanied by his reliable friend, Oota, who often carries or drags him around when he falls asleep. Taking a different approach to comedy, the always exhausted Tanaka finds ways to maximize his laziness, while the rest of the cast find multiple ways to wake him up. Miyano is Tanaka’s cheerful classmate, who admires him for his listless personality. She is very energetic and loves to make friends. She is a happy innocent girl who persistently approaches Tanaka to become his apprentice. This slice of life series will surely give you something to smile about as it focuses on the relationship of best friends Tanaka and Oota.

Nichijou is a series with cute and unusual high school students. Nothing is normal in this insane anime as the daily lives of the characters are filled with absurd adventures. Want to get bitten by a talking cow? Okay. Have you ever seen a student riding a goat to school? Well, now you will. Do you want random explosions in your anime? Boom! These are just some of the gags that will brighten up your anime viewing experience. Mio Naganohara is the happiest among the cast of the Nichijou or possibly the one who will make you the happiest. She is a smart cheerful girl who is very talented in secretly drawing ecchi yaoi in her free time. She has a short temper and often goes into tantrums. She is very sensitive with her manga drawings and goes berserk when people (or animals) see it. If you want to truly know the meaning of “rolling on the floor, laughing”, then please join Mio and the crazy cast of Nichijou in their quest to make you insanely happy.

Popura Taneshima works in a family restaurant called Wagnaria. She asks Souta Takanashi to work with her as a part-timer. Souta, who mistook Popura as a middle school girl because of her height, agrees because he liked that thought of working for his senior who looks like a child. Quickly being acquainted with the staff of the Wagnaria restaurant, Takanashi gets the hang of working. He quickly realizes that he’s surrounded with very weird employees. Popura is a short 17-year-old high school student who works at Wagnaria. She has a bright personality and is always mistaken as a child. She is a bit clumsy but is very hard working. She is somewhat sensitive about her small appearance and wants to gain Souta’s respect. Despite her lack of height, she is still a very happy person and overflows with cuteness. With an eccentric cast of characters with very unique personalities, Working!! is one of those anime series that never has a dull moment.

Azumanga Daioh is a hilarious look at the lives of six high school girls. Packed with silliness, friendship and the overall ups and downs of high school life, this series explores each of the characters unusual personalities. Together with their quirky teachers, this lovable group of girls will give you the best slice of life comedy. Tomo Takino is the “loose cannon” of the group. She is extremely energetic and a very competitive girl. However, she is also considered non-athletic, lazy and tends to irritate people around her sometimes. Tomo’s personality never considers the consequences of anything that she says or does. Despite this, she cares for her friends in her own way and mostly does things without thinking just to have fun. Tomo loves to play pranks and a typical happy go lucky character. Azumanga Daioh is a cute and lovable anime series that while make you smile endlessly.

Barakamon is the story of Seishuu Handa, a young and talented calligrapher, who unfortunately lost his nerve after being criticized by a veteran on his masterpiece. He is sent to Goto Island by his father as punishment, to find new inspiration and learn self-reflection. His busy city life changes completely as he envisions a peaceful country life. Handa’s hopes are turned upside down instantly by his quirky neighbors, who always seem to barge in his house. Naru Kotoishi, a girl in the first grade who frequently hangs out in Seishuu's house. She is super hyper, cheerful and childish. She loves to play around and does not understand Seishuu’s need for personal space. She is adventurous and has a funny habit of imitating other people, which sometimes seen as rather inappropriate for her age. She loves to have fun and is always in a happy mood. Barakamon is a light-hearted comedy that will keep you happily entertained.

The best way to end our list is to watch a very happy anime. Anne Happy is a story about students of Tennomifune Academy. The class of 1-7 is composed of unlucky students gathered together to overcome their misfortunes and is tasked to become happy. Hibari, a student in the class meets Hanako and Botan because of an unfortunate event. Despite their bad luck in different aspects, the girls try to find a way to turn their misfortunes into memorable happy moments. Hanako makes it to the top of our list because she is basically the epitome of happiness. There is never a dull moment for her and she manages to somehow smile in the worst possible scenarios. Her character is the perfect example of a happy anime girl because nothing seems to keep her down. She only sees the positive side of things, even if she’s in a very bad situation. If you think that you are having a bad day and want to crack a smile, try to watch Anne Happy and we’re sure that you’ll learn a lot from how Hanako deals with her terrible luck.

Throughout most her life so far, Hitagi had been afflicted with a supernatural entity. This caused her to be weightless which in turn distanced her from most. It wasn’t until the meddling of Araragi that Hitagi was finally free from the curse. To show her gratitude to him, Araragi became the first friend of hers after so long which eventually led to her confession towards him. Now as boyfriend as girlfriend, Hitagi keeps a strict watch over him and openly admits to being very jealous whenever he is around other girls. While it may seem scary, Hitagi only acts like this because Araragi was the only significant other person from her father that showed genuine, unconditional care for her. In gratuity, she opened herself up to him. In one of the most memorable scenes in anime, Hitagi offered to Araragi – a starry night sky, which represented just about the last of everything she holds dear and true to her heart. Thereafter, whenever Araragi is in a pickle, Hitagi will always make a last minute appearance and relieve him of the situation that he is before effecting upon him snide remarks to show her contempt for not informing her. Hitagi’s utter devotion to him and masking her worries for Araragi amidst her snarky remarks just shows us her dere side whilst being a tsundere.

While walking up a hill one day, Tomoya happened to chance upon what he described as ‘the most beautiful girl in the world’. He sets off to find her only to realise that this girl was in fact Megumi Kato. In fact, Megumi was his classmate and up till this point in time, Tomoya had not realised it. It didn’t take too long for him to find out why he had never noticed her. In reality, Megumi is the most normal girl ever. Her normalcy is so strong, that she is just… boring. “How can a boring girlfriend ever be a top 10 list girlfriend?” is probably what you are asking. Exactly because she is the most boring girlfriend ever, she will always bring you back to earth with her realism. Megumi was said to be boring by those around her. However, coming from her point of view, she had always been herself every time. Her genuine intention to understand the otaku life and how hard it must be to be stigmatised just shows the degree of understanding she has. Megumi even went along at the whims of Tomoya and her one true expression of discontent was because Tomoya seemingly ditched her during a date showing once again how much she truly cared for the relationship.

Sun’s actual identity is a mermaid. She saves Nagasumi from drowning. However, because she had allowed herself to be seen by Nagasumi, the laws of the sea require either her or him to die. With only one way out of it, he chose – to ask for her hand in marriage. Unfortunately, he bit off more than he can chew and not only does he have to protect her identity, he has to deal with the yakuza-ish family members of Seto. Sun, outside of her chivalry mode, is shown to be a very gentle, considerate and caring. Seto truly believes in chivalry and will do anything to show her honourable spirit. She took it upon herself to protect Nagasumi. Often Sun will save him from her own family members trying to either kill him or hinder their relationship. This was all done unconditionally due to her belief in chivalry. Eventually, Sun grew to have feelings for Nagasumi which was reciprocated in the end as well.

Misa is a celebrity and is seen by everyone as a cheerful and bubbly superstar. However, the truth is, at a very young age, she saw her parents murdered in front of her causing her to develop abnormally with a traumatic past always haunting her. The mysterious entity known as Kira who had been going around killing off criminals is her saviour and she yearned to meet with him. With her Shinigami Eyes, Misa identifies Light Yagami as Kira and from then own, devotes her whole life to him. Together, the both of them set out in pursuit of the identity of L. Although having yandere traits, Misa truly devotes herself to Kira. She values him as being more important than the world. Misa had to shorten her lifespan by acquiring her Shinigami Eyes to first identify him. After identifying him, her actions are fuelled and motivated by love alone. Through thick and thin, she stuck by Light to the point of being confined by L. Simply put, the visions and views of Light are now hers as well.

Ruri or Kuroneko was one of the fellow otaku of the online group Otaku Girls Unite! Her obvious trait would be her taste in fashion. Kuroneko always dons a gothic Lolita outfit. This does not help her already small size which makes really gives her a Lolita look despite her age. Later on as the series progresses on, she started dating with Kyousuke. While Kuroneko truly loves Kyousuke, she also sets on a mission for Kyousuke and Kirino to express and vent their true feelings towards each other by making Kirino jealous of her relationship with Kyousuke. This is the conflict she face whilst dating Kyousuke. For the better of Kyousuke, Kuroneko forsakes her relationship with him in order for him to feel happy and at ease. A shy person in general, this situation had caused tremendous stress to her and she fainted as a result. Needless to say however, even after her breakup with Kyousuke, Kuroneko still loved him.

Inori was introduced as an emotionless girl. She is also the Internet pop sensation Egoist. Yet Shuu Ouma was fascinated by her from the very beginning and his numerous attempts at reaching out to her were not wasted. Eventually, Inori herself dedicated her life to him and they always fought side by side. To Shu, the most formidable weapon he has in his arsenal has always been Inori’s Void. The relationship that they share is implicit. Undoubtedly, Inori and Shu are close enough to be considered a couple. It took significant effort from Shu to reach Inori but it paid off in the end. She develops feelings and emotions and uses it to support Shu emotionally. The final act of Inori’s sacrifice shows the extent of her love towards Shu – to protect him to the very end at the cost of her own existence.

At the age of seventeen, Kurisu (or Kurisuuutinaaa~) was already a genius in the field of science. Kurisu’s research has earned her a reputation within the scientific community. Due to the tampering of the space time continuum by Okabe Rintaro, they happened to meet. Albeit starting out with a spiteful relationship, they slowly grew into each other. While there was no confession for the first half of the anime, it is apparent that they have feelings for each other already. This couple’s relationship can be said to transcend fate and destiny! Even through so many alterations in the passage of time, both of them still managed to find each other and fall in love. With the show’s theory of time itself, it takes a miracle to be able to find a perfect end to the relationship amidst so many other countless timelines. To get to that conclusion, one fact alone stands above all. Kurisu’s feelings for Okabe are genuinely sincere. How she puts up with his idiotic mad scientist act, his constant teasing of her and his eccentricity are just some of the factors that play a part to the overall conclusion. Theirs is a relationship so strong, that even time itself can’t put a stop to it.

Asuna is a young and helpful woman. Like many of her online peers, she was trapped in the virtual reality world inside a game where dying equates to real death. The cognizance of the gravity of the situation has made her dejected. Before meeting up with Kirito, she no longer cares for dying. After being inspired by Kirito, her outlook and even her personality changed for the better. They married within the game and after escaping from the game, started dating. Like most successful functioning couples within the anime world, both parties complement each other. Asuna and Kirito provide strength and guidance to each other while receiving support from the other as well. Their compatibility is reflected by how great they work together as a team. As his girlfriend, Asuna is able to anticipate the actions of Kirito and follow-up on his actions. As Kirito was her beacon of hope, she fully devotes herself to him with her ultimate act of devotion to take a fatal blow from Heathcliff. Miraculously however, both of them survive on, continuing their ever so sweet romantic life together.

When first introduced, Koko appears to be the possessive girlfriend that every boyfriend would want to avoid. Her numerous and obvious attempts at courting Mitsuo always fail. This all changed however when Tada Banri took an interest in her and they started going out. She does still get jealous when other girls talk to him or tries to take care of him. Nevertheless, she tries her best to plays the role of a good girlfriend. Finally, she becomes convinced of Banri’s feelings towards her. It is with this new relationship that Koko’s possessiveness is transfigured into devotion to her significant other and seeks only to bring out the best in him. Koko does play the role of a good girlfriend by becoming his moral support and caring for him. She is often conflicted as to how she is able to play this role and fear that Banri will leave her due to her lack of ability. Koko openly admitted to being clingy but only because she truly loves him and wants him to be by her side. All in all, she is shown to be a person to fully devote herself and bring out the best in her significant other.

On one fateful day on the train, Rinko was saved from being a victim of a groper on the train. Her saviour is Takeo Gouda. Ever since that day, Rinko has a strange affection for Takeo. Whereas others would shun away from Takeo due to his intimidating look and bulky size, she finds it extremely charming for her. Finding every opportunity to meet with him, she deliberately left her phone at his house such that they may meet again. Eventually, Rinko confessed her feeling for him and luckily for her, it was reciprocated. Thus starts their journey as one of the sweetest couples in anime. Rinko may be innocent, but she is definitely not dumb like most innocent female protagonists. As shown, Rinko can be calculating as she leaves her phone behind simply for the sake of meeting with Takeo again. While it may have an ulterior motive, this shows her immense dedication to the person she loves. She is also extremely considerate for his feelings and will usually invite his friend along for dates such that he won’t feel left out. This is a girlfriend who is not only understanding, but patient as well to go through all this trouble!

Kurozuka is a story that takes place in the 12th century as we follow Kurou (His real name is Minamoto no Yoshitsune) on his mysterious journey. After being defeated by his brother Minamoto no Yorimito, Kurou runs off into the mountains in humiliation. Many believed that he committed suicide after the events but instead, Kurou comes across a beautiful woman named Kuromitsu in her mountain retreat. Allured by her elegance Kurou falls in love with her not knowing that she's holding a deep dark secret, that she is an immortal vampire that stops at nothing to seduce her enemies into submission. Kurou learns throughout the story that he too can live forever but was unsure of this in the beginning until Kuromitsu revealed this to him. Kuromitsu is very deceptive in her ways and there is something that she doesn't reveal to Kurou that we recommend you watch to find out more. There is some historical reference pertaining to Kurou and his actual character in the series. According to the popular Japanese literary novel “Heike Monotagari” or Tale of the Heike, Kurou was a well-known skilled swordsman who fought countless battles and eventually was betrayed by his brother, leading him and his family to commit seppuku. This deep and fascinating story is one we recommend you read but also watch in this fantastic anime rendition of Kurou's actual life.

D.Gray Man was a very popular series that released in October of 2006 starring main protagonist Allen Walker on his journey to discover more truth behind his cursed eye, and to put a stop to the terrible plot that Millennium Earl is planning. Earl is the antagonist of the series and his entire pursuit is to trick people with their dead relatives and friends in order to create demons. His immortality grants him eternal power through sorcery and he intends to use it to destroy the planet. Earl had formed a pact with the Noah Clan in his past which allowed him to use his current powers to reign supreme over humanity. Main creator Katsura Hoshino stated that she based the character off the legendary alchemist Dorian Gray which is presumably where the title D.Gray Man originated from. Millennium Earl's appearance is that of a Victorian gentleman with some bizarre features such as his over exaggerated grin which remains fixed when he eats or speaks, and his eyes permanently shrouded behind a pair of spectacles. Earl shows two different sides to him throughout the series, one who is very cheerful and friendly while the other half is sadistic showing no remorse for the lives of others. D.Gray Man is receiving a new season this summer and so we highly recommend if you'd like to know more about this immortal being, be sure to check out D.Gray Man Hallow July 5th.

Baccano! released in the summer of 2007 running for 13 episodes. The story is based on the award winning light novel of the same title and revolves around several events which seem unrelated but play such a major role of the entire premise of what's happening. We follow characters Issac and Mira, two thieves whose lives become a huge adventure revolving around alchemy, survival, and immortality. Set in the 1930's, the pair must investigate the objective behind the Flying Pussyfoot, a transcontinental train, that seeks out to leave a trail of blood in its path. Furthermore, an ambitious scientist along with his aide are in search for the elixir bottles that grant immortality. This entire adventure is filled with ups and downs and so Issac and Mira must work with other characters through the show, and come to the conclusion behind all that is transpiring. Sylvie Lumiere is one of the supporting characters that the team meet along their journey, and she possesses the power of immortality. According to her back story, her lover Gretto was brutally murdered by Slizard, and she vowed to get revenge on him. While not much else is explained behind her character, she is aware of where the elixirs are located and so she along with everyone else must track down the rest of the immortals to find out more information.

Blade of the Immortal follows the story of protagonist Manji on his journey to break the curse which grants him immortality. Manji was cursed with the Kessen-Chu by a nun which gives him immortal life, however this was something he didn't really come to enjoy. The curse was placed on him because he brutally killed 100 innocent men in the name of his twisted Daimyo. In order for Manji to break this curse and return to being a normal human, he must kill one thousand evil men to repay his debt. Throughout the anime he is given the title “Mister Twelve Blades” due to him carrying weapons of that amount around on his journey. Manji comes across Rin who vows to seek revenge against the sword school whose members slaughtered her family. The two work closely in order to seek peace in both of their lives, but are constantly bombarded by enemies that lie in wait. We highly suggest watching Manji because it tells a story of a man who shows regret for his actions, and is trying to serve justice to restore balance in the world that he lives in.

Hatsuki is a high school student who lives with her sister Hatsumi, and she has a huge crush on her. Something strange happens however, when on Hatsumi's 16th birthday she is suddenly surrounded by a green light and completely disappears in front of Hatsuki. Hatsuki chases her down and ends up in a place called “The Great Library” which is full of books containing different worlds. Hatsumi isn't there and now it has become the mission of Hatsuki to travel from book to book in order to find her beloved sister. Ritsuko is a supporting character in the series but she plays an important role as we see her early in episode three, and more in episode four. Ritsuko is an immortal who specializes in the art of magic, traveling the countryside to perform healing rituals. She can also perform sexual magic spells when under pressure, especially since she must do a lot of traveling between books. Ritsuko was appointed to the job of being an alchemist to protect Princess Mariel, but things take a turn for the worse when one of her closest colleagues betrays her and so she must now use her special powers to save the princess from harm. This anime is not talked about too frequently and so to promote a really cool series we decided to throw Ritsuko into the mix to give you something fresh. We do hope you tune into this one because the story gets a lot better half way through!

Celty is the black rider or “Headless Rider” in the Durarara!! series and we chose her as part of the top five immortal anime characters just for you. Celty is a Dullahan from Ireland who travels to Japan in search for her stolen head. The motorcycle she rides is merely a dark horse in disguise and so we're immediately reminded of the classic novel headless horseman the minute we see her. Celty has no heart and so she feels out her surroundings using unknown sensors which are not located in her head. Her strength is beyond that of a normal human but not to the level of Shizuo, who surpasses just about everyone in the series. Celty also has the power to spawn a shadow like durable substance to form objects that range from a large scythe to a chariot all at will. Throughout the series Celty usually is out on her own in search for her missing head, but often gets tangled in with Mikado's endeavors having to save him from gang related incidents that frequently take place around Ikebukuro. She is one of the very few characters in the series who know the real identity of The Dollars creator, but due to her inability to speak we never get a chance to find out. So perhaps that should your cue to check out Durarara!! to find out who's behind all of the nonsense in the city, but also to see if Celty will get her head back.

Hellsing is a secret organization of the British Government, battling supernatural threats that plan to terrorize the city and saving humanity from these strange creatures. The leader of the organization is Integra Wingates Hellsing who controls her own army to take down dead beings, but when compared to that of Allucard her soldiers do very little to hinder or stop them. Together they must work as a team along with Allucard's new minion, Seras Victoria, to put a stop not only to the deadly foes that confront them but also the corrupt Vatican and Millennium that stand in their way. Allucard is the main protagonist of the very popular Hellsing anime. He is a vampire and the most powerful warrior of the Hellsing organization which works against vampires and other supernatural forces. Allucard just isn't your ordinary vampire, he is an immortal being with an assortment of other powers that make him pretty much unstoppable. Allucard can regenerate at any given moment that he is dismembered or killed, hypnotize his enemies very convincingly, and has a high resistance to most weaknesses that normal vampires suffer from. His list of skills go on for a number of pages but to save time, we suggest you watch the entire series to find out more about this overpowered hero.

Berserk is a widely acclaimed series that released in Japan around 1989, which has seen numerous movie and anime adaptations to explain its fantastic Story. The anime released in 2013 with positive praise, following Guts on his journey for revenge after being betrayed by the only person he could trust. Now a marked man, Guts is condemned to a fate in which he is repeatedly scouted out by evil demons. Despite all of his misfortunes, he must now travel a path carved by struggles, along with his massive sword to finally put an end to all of the misery and take the head of the one who stripped him of his humanity. Berserk is slated to release its new season in the franchise this summer, so in honor of the new series we present to you The Skull Knight. The Skull Knight is one of the most mysterious characters in the Berserk series because not much is explained behind his back story. He is an imposing warrior dressed in full skull shaped armor, who rides on a ghostly black horse. He is the enemy of the Godhand and its acolytes, skillfully hunting down Apostles and feeding on their Behelits especially Zodd the Immortal. The Skull Knight wields a deadly sword that when stuck down his throat, becomes a threatening, Behelit-coated blade that allows him to cut rifts through reality and roam freely between different dimensions. We don't want to give away too much about the story, but if you'd like to find out how The Skull Knight acquired his immortality then be sure to watch not only the latest series, but the original as well.

The Seven Deadly Sins is an action adventure shounen anime that came out during the fall season of 2014. It stars Meliodas and his crew of the Seven Deadly Sins on a journey to uncover the truth behind who had betrayed them in order to overthrow the ruler of Liones. We are going to take a look at Ban who is one of the primary characters in the series, and is the only character who represents immortality. Ban is the sin of greed and a fox symbol is located on his lower left abdomen. Due to the false information that was released to the kingdom, Ban had been imprisoned in the baste dungeon to serve out the rest of his life. Fortunately for Ban, he can't die so he instead tries to break out of his cell to reunite with his fellow members. Without spoiling too much of the show, Ban gained immortality from the fountain of youth in the fairy king's forest which led to his nickname “undead Ban”. He now uses his infinite strength to engage in battle with his enemies to put a stop to the onslaught that is ensuing within the kingdom grounds. Despite his very sinister appearance, Ban is actually a very warm hearted individual who only tries to serve a purpose, but sometimes winds up in more trouble than he should. Since he is afflicted with greed, a lot of his behaviors revolve around him wanting all of the attention, and taking everything for himself. Seven Deadly Sins is expecting its long awaited second season very soon also, so we highly recommend tuning in to see more of this awesome anime. Also don’t miss the special coming out in August as well!

Ajin tells the story of a species of the same title that was discovered in Africa. They are said to have immortality along with supernatural powers, but look just like any normal human being. Since its first discovery more and more Ajin have found their way into the present world, and Kei Nagai is one of the characters who encounters one. The anime tries to express some complex truths about life and death, while showing us the darker side of human nature. Kei Nagai is just your ordinary student who surpassed everyone in his class for being highly intelligent. A lot of his classmates ask him for help, but often tend to tease him when he decides not to. Kaito is Kei's closest friend going back to childhood, and most of the time is bullied by the same students who sometimes pick on Kei. Unfortunatelym one afternoon while walking home from school, Kei is struck by an oncoming truck killing him on impact. His friends stood there bewildered and shocked as it happened, but suddenly a dark matter slithers under the truck inserting itself into Kei's body. Totally unaware of this, his friends do their best to call for help but are then surprised to see when Kei walks from under the truck unscathed. From this moment forward the real story begins as now the whole town is after him knowing that he has become an Ajin, which has granted him immortality.

Chiyuki already is in an interesting setting. Death Parade takes place a new take on the concept of purgatory, the place your soul goes for judgement before you die. There, your soul is judged to see if it is worthy of reincarnation in a new life. But how is that judgement determined? By playing a game, with everything on the line and the stakes being raised higher and higher to put the pressure on and bring out your true character. And Chiyuki is one of the people that helps do just that. Or is she? Chiyuki starts out as a bit of a quiet side character, simply helping Decim run the games in his bar and learning how he judges people's souls. But while Decim is seemingly emotionless and doesn't care about the struggles the humans go through, Chiyuki becomes very invested in each person that comes to the bar. And the more she learns about these people, the more she learns about herself, the place she is, and where she has come from. She brings a whole new perspective into the judgement and shakes a system that has been unshakable for who knows how long. She's the only one of her kind in that environment (not to give away too many spoilers!) and stays strong, and sees in other people what no one else can. And that makes her cool - her inner strength, perseverance, slowly revealed backstory and perspective. She's a fresh idea, and that is really cool.

One Punch Man is a story about superheroes, but it's delivered in a fresh new way. In a world where monsters and bad guys constantly threaten the public, the Hero Association has been created to allow people with extraordinary abilities make a living as heroes to protect the common people. Like any job, being a certified hero requires and application and interview process, and heroes can then become promoted within to different ranks that come with rules, status, and varying pay grades as well. But more like rock stars than businessmen, these heroes also gain (or lose) public followings and support depending on their attitudes and appearances - and of course, how they are in a battle! In the top hero ranking of S, sitting at rank number 2 is our next cool anime girl Tatsumaki. And she certainly didn't get to this high position by being uncool - exactly the opposite of course! Tatsumaki is a powerful esper, with incredible psychological powers. She may look young, but she's in her late 20s and is the most powerful esper alive. She knows she is cool too, and it shows in her icy, take-no-prisoners attitude that she shows towards allies and enemies alike. While the main character of the show is shown to be unimaginably strong, Tatsumaki's little sister doesn't believe even he is as strong as Tatsumaki is. Her telepathic fighting style is really cool for sure, and she is usually shown annihilating her enemies and showing that she deserves her rank. And to add in a little extra cool factor, she has awesome green hair!

Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid is a show full of girls - and full of cool ones, at that. Two young, beautiful girls have found themselves as mysterious castaways on the island of Mermaid, a land full of hostile women, danger, and scandal. The only way for the girls to survive their time there is to work together! Conveniently, by sharing a passionate kiss one is able to unlock the other's powerful transformation ability, turning her into a great fighter powered by her own arousal. The girl who is able to unleash this power in her new friend is Mirei, our cool anime girl in question. While it's hard to decide just which awesome girl from Valkyrie Drive:Mermaid is the coolest, we settled on Mirei in the end. She is a Liberator and a powerful one at that, with a mysterious past that few know much about. She is already sounding pretty cool. Mirei often throws up a false front of being a cold and stoic person, but in reality, she is actually a lover of cute things and has a very kind and pure heart. That doesn't stop her from helping her friend Mamori fight against their enemies to ensure that the two survive, though! Her strong friendship and loyalty, abilities as a Liberator, and intriguing personality are what land her on our list of the coolest girls in anime. She does what she has to do to do what she feels is right and won't let anything stop her, and that is incredibly cool.

Seisen Cerberus Ryuukoku no Fatalités takes place in a medieval fantasy world complete with Knights, magic, dragons, and creatures of all kinds of fantasy-esque varieties. One of the main characters is a small talking humanoid lizard after all, so there aren't a lot of limits on the imagination. While the story follows Hiiro, a young swordsman bent on gaining revenge for his murdered parents by an evil and powerful dragon, it turns out Hiiro isn't much of a hero at all. Actually, he's quite bad at sword fighting, irrational at making decisions, and very impatient. To succeed, he will definitely need a strong group of allies behind him, and that is where our next cool anime girl comes in. Erin joins Hiiro's party without an invitation, and against the wishes of most of his traveling companions. Admittedly, though, when she first meets everyone she does swindle them out of a free meal, but a girl has to eat after all, right? Erin is a well-endowed cat girl, complete with the ears and tail, as well as the dexterity and agility that real cats have. Her cool factor comes from her quick wit, sharp tongue, and stubborn disposure that serve her will in a tough world. She doesn't back down and will do whatever she has to, to get what she wants, and isn't afraid to do a bit of manipulating too. Deep down, though, she is a good person and does her best to help her friends, including by adding her skills as an archer to the party's artillery. While Seisen Cerberus is a more lighthearted and funny anime, and Erin is a comedic character on top of offering a bit of fan-service, that doesn't mean she can't be cool as well! And she definitely meets the mark.

There are few anime with a plot harder to describe than Durarara!! and all of its more recent sequel series, and with how many characters it has, there are never-ending arguments about which one is really at the centre. Because of the very nature of the story, so many different plot lines are all happening at once in so many different directions, occasionally crossing over one another, until they all finally come back to one point in the end. In the middle of one of these various plot lines, and one of the pivotal characters of the show is Celty Sturluson. She has been important to the anime since it started in 2010 and has remained a key character ever since then. Celty isn't your average anime girl; she is far from it, in fact. We’ll begin by telling you what she is – technically, she’s an ancient and mythical Irish fairy called a Dullahan. And while her tight black catsuit certainly leaves little to the imagination about how her body looks, she has another name in modern Ikebukuro - the Headless Rider. And the name is certainly not misplaced, because she is hardly ever seen without her black motorcycle, and she indeed doesn't have a head beneath that cat helmet! Being a fairy has its perks, though, because Celty is able to manipulate shadows to create a powerful, massive scythe that can cut through just about anything. Super cool. Plus her motorcycle isn't actually a bike, it's actually her headless horse from her days in Ireland, and it can do everything from ride straight up the side of buildings to outrunning just about anything that tries to chase her! She helps give Durarara!! its supernatural element which adds some fantastic and unique fight and chase scenes into the show. And she does it all without a head! Celty is definitely cool in our books.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu takes the idea of déjà vu and has its own spin on it. When Subaru finds himself suddenly sucked from outside a convenience store in modern Japan into a medieval fantasy world without any explanation, he is already confused enough. But when he ends his first day with being murdered, and then awakening in the fantasy world to start fresh again, things start to get really weird. When all of the same events continue to repeat, well. That's certainly where the mystery deepens. One of the factors in Subaru's life that keeps repeating is meeting a half-elf named Satella, our next cool anime girl. In fact, Satella saves his life from a group of rough thugs, and when Subaru offers to help her with her quest in return, both of them end up murdered! And then he meets her again when the events repeat. She does eventually reveal that her real name is actually Emilia and that he is actually a candidate in the Royal election. Satella does her best to prove she would be a strong ruler, even though she doesn't always understand the world very well having grown up only with elves, and giving very little attention to her appearance. And that is what makes her part of our coolest girls in anime! She isn't your typical pretty anime girl, super good at everything she does, unbelievably powerful, and arrogantly attractive. Instead, she is a more believable and relatable character (not to mention she is genuinely nice, even though she can't see it herself) while still having fantasy elements like being a half-elf. And we think that makes her pretty cool too.

While clearly, the main character of Arslan Senki is Arslan himself, he is still just a young man, new to trying to command an army and take back his throne from a powerful overlord at the same time. That means he has to have a pretty strong host of advisors and warriors behind him to guide him, keep him safe, and help him make his most important decisions in a war-torn country. One of those advisors is the mysterious Farangis, a priestess from the Temple of Mithra who shows up in the night and declares herself one of Arslan's bodyguards. She vows to protect him as the crown prince and to help him take back this throne despite it not seeming to directly benefit her in any way. From the moment Farangis appears, she has a cool aura - a beautiful and mysterious, scantily clad woman who arrives in the night on horseback? Cool. A dark and stoic personality, never used for fan-service despite her curves and looks, and who doesn't take nonsense from anyone? Cooler. Add to that the fact that she’s also a fantastic archer and ruthless fighter who is merciless towards her enemies in battle? Coolest. Farangis might not be in the show from the start, but once she does arrive she never fails to leave an awesome impression time and time again. There aren't a lot of women in Arslan Senki, but Farangis is definitely the coolest girl - if not one of the coolest characters, full stop.

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka, from here on referred to as Danmachi because no one wants to read that title countless times, is where we find our number three coolest anime girl. While Danmachi has no shortage of female characters (no really, there are so many girls in this show!), Ais Wallenstein is definitely the coolest one! She serves as the main love interest for the main character, Bell Cranel, and despite many other girls trying to get his attention throughout the show, he typically remains transfixed on Ais. And who can blame him? We certainly can’t – she is a great choice, and most certainly crush material. On top of being very beautiful, Ais Wallenstein is incredibly strong. In Danmachi, those who chose to be adventurers make their way each day into the dungeon to slay monsters and earn gems, and Ais is part of one of the strongest guilds in the town – the Loki Familia. She is famous throughout the land, known as the Sword Princess for good reason. She broke records leveling up in the dungeons as she grew up in her guild and remains one of the strongest people in the town today. Everyone knows her when they see her walk past! On top of her strength, Ais is typically very quiet and level-headed, showing no mercy both to the monsters she fights and to men that confess to her or treat her in any perverted way. This cold, mature personality just adds to her intrigue – and of course, to her coolness! A beautiful girl who is good with a sword, obliterates the competition, is famous throughout the land, and has a nonchalant personality? Definitely cool!

Another post-apocalyptic Japan setting leads to another cool anime girl – this time, Alisa Illinichina Amiella, from God Eater. This time, humanity has been forced into a fortress by creatures called Aragami that cannot be killed by conventional weapons, but only by God Arcs. These weapons can only be wielded by people that can bond with an Oracle Cell, and thus, only humans and their families that show this ability are allowed inside the safety of the fortress while everyone else is forced to scrape a living outside the walls at the mercy of the Aragami – and no one lives long outside those walls. Alisa shows up at the Far East Centre, Fenrir, from the Russian one as a loan meant to help them with their struggles there. From the moment that Alisa shows up in God Eater, she is undeniably cool. Her God Arc itself is already a super cool weapon, being an oversized, amazingly powerful sword that she wields as if it were weightless. She faces the Aragami time and time again without fear, entering directly into head-on confrontations with them despite their terrifying appearance and massive size – and often denies help from others if she thinks she can handle it herself. Sure, Alisa does have some emotional problems from her childhood trauma that come into play, but they simply make her character deeper and more interesting rather than weaker, because as she learns to overcome them, she only becomes stronger and cooler! Throughout the anime, Alisa saves many of her friends and protects a lot of other innocent people, and takes down as many Aragami as she can in an incredibly cool style of fighting.

Koutetsujou no Kabaneri takes place in a Japan that has been taken over by a zombie apocalypse, and the zombies in this story are known as kabane. The setting is unique in that, despite being in a historical Japan, it is a Japan that had open doors during the industrial revolution that has led to it having developments in steam technology. This allows for steam powered weapons like powerful guns, and the massive armoured steam train that the story is centred around. Our number one coolest anime girl Mumei is right in the middle of this awesome steampunk, zombie-overrun Japan – and to make her even cooler, she is what is known as a kabaneri, someone who is half human, half kabane! Mumei may be small and cute, but she can more than hold her own in a fight which she proves over and over again. She is very agile and dexterous, avoiding her enemies’ strikes with really cool acrobatics and evasive maneuvering. She often uses two pistols that are attached to a device on her back that gives her extra steam-powered abilities to jump higher and move faster, and after taking in how many kabane she has to fight, she will set a personal timer for how long it will take her to destroy them all. Quite often, Mumei is able to do it within the time limit that she sets for herself! Even when she isn’t using her pistols, she can be seen beheading kabane by kicking them with her sandals that contain a hidden blade, and other cool hand-to-hand combat moves. Don’t let Mumei’s cute appearance deceive you – she’s a badass, and definitely one of the coolest girls in recent anime!

Flying in at number ten on our list is Ryuk from Death Note. This scary looking character is the shinagami who drops the death note in the human world by accident, which Light eventually picks up and uses to carry out his sadistic plans. Ryuk is generally a very neutral character and would rather not aid Light in his endeavors, watching him struggle to accomplish his goals of being the god of justice. One thing to note is that Ryuk doesn't see Light as a friend but rather acts out on his own interests, refusing to tell Light the true details behind the death note unless he gives him an apple. This selfish and crafty flying death god is entertaining to watch and it is why we had to put him on the list. Much of the story doesn't necessarily place the spotlight on Ryuk, but his presence in the show does play a major role since he is the one responsible for Light owning the Death Note in the first place. We chose him because of his aesthetics, more specifically his appearance and the fact that he doesn't really require wings to fly around and taunt Light every time he screws up. He simply just floats without much effort, surveying the environment and trying not to bore himself in the process. If you haven't watched the Death Note series, we surely approve of it and encourage you to check it out.

Hades takes the name from the mythological Greek god and serves as the antagonist in the Saint Seiya series. In the story Hades is the ruler of the underworld and the sworn enemy of goddess Athena. His supreme goal is to turn Earth into ashes, leaving no trace of civilization behind. The strong hatred towards humanity comes from the fact that humans have mistreated the gods for thousands of years, and so it is in his power to unleash punishment upon everyone. Pegasus and the rest of the team come together to put a stop to his tyranny, doing whatever they can to prevent the destruction of Earth and perhaps the universe. Hades is just a really cool looking character who represents the dark angel in the series. Most of the cast fly very much like Hades, but his appearance is just more sinister with his all black exterior. Not only does Hades have the ability to fly but his dark powers allow him to manipulate life and death. He can regenerate and resurrect his specters by will, and bring the end of mortal lives by will. Not only that but he is able to rearrange the solar system just by mere thought using his telekinesis powers. Hades truly deserves his number nine spot and we highly suggest watching Saint Seiya to see the amazing conclusion!

Monster Rancher or Monster Farm in Japan, was pretty underrated during its time since it had to compete with the likes of Digimon and Pokemon throughout its televised seasons. Fortunately, the show was still successful despite the drawbacks due to its really cool story and funky characters. The story is about Genki who is an avid lover of video games, who gets transported into an actual game world filled with real monsters. Along his crazy journey, he meets up with a girl named Holly who then helps him track down the evil Moo with the help of other crazy monsters such as Mochi. Pixie was one of the monsters from the series who a lot of people seemed to overlook, but she was one of the stronger evil characters throughout the earlier half of the season. She eventually was able to see the truth about Moo once Genki explained his true intentions, and teamed together with Genki to stop Moo from destroying the world. Pixie was chosen as our top eight because she represents balance in the series, using a wide array of attacks which require flying and generating massive energy surges to lay waste to her enemies. While her appearance may seem intimidating, Pixie is very level headed and generally quiet at times. We don't want to spoil the rest of the story for you, but Pixie is a force to be reckoned with later on in the show so be sure to check this classic out.

Falling from the sky into the number seven spot is Raynare from High School DxD. Originally known as Amano Yuuma, Raynare had the intention of seducing main character Issei after asking him out on a date. Issei being the pervert that he is gladly accepts the date and the two walk to the park late at night, where Issei thought he would finally get his chance. Unfortunately, Yuuma was fed up with the facade and brutally murders Issei leaving him lying in cold blood. Her plot was to steal Asia's Secret Gear, Twilight Healing and she managed to successfully do so but now Issei and Rias team together to put a stop to this villain’s cruel intentions. Raynare is very crafty in the way she manipulates her victims, but more so her overwhelming lust for power is attractive. Her suit is all black equipped with two large wings to help her maneuver around her opponents for the kill. Raynare really isn't deadly by her powers but more her looks since she uses them to persuade her victims into following orders, then killing them after she's done toying with them. We thought her character archetype was very appealing and because she uses her intellect to fly around her opponents, we had to throw her onto the list. Not too many characters can do multiple things at once and still look hot doing it, but Raynare is one of the exceptions.

Flying Witch is one of the newer anime that came out during the spring lineup and so we thought it would be great to throw Makoto in. Makoto is a witch who has decided to become a full-fledged witch and left her town of Yokohama along with her cat Chito to Aomori Prefecture to learn more about the art of witchcraft. While her power is only limited to flying through the sky on her broom, her second cousins Kei and Chinatsu make it their goal to ensure she learns what she can. The slice of life anime takes us on an adventure with Makoto as we get to see her grow through various experiences she encounters during her training. Despite not having the full powers of a witch, Makoto's exceptional flying skills with her broom surely make up for it. She can zip through the sky and tackle objectives without breaking a sweat which is impressive even with her setbacks. Chito is there as her motivation to keep her going if she ever felt like giving up her training, but as you can see throughout the show Makoto really starts to show a lot of improvements to not only her flying and witchcraft but also her relationships with family. We highly recommend watching the series to get a closer look at Makoto's life and watch as she flies majestically through the clouds effortlessly.

We don't really see much being said about the Cardcaptor Sakura series and so we thought it would be best to represent the series by including a very cool flying character to the list. The story follows Sakura who stumbles upon a book containing a set of cards, setting off a magical spell which dispersed the cards all over the world. A beast confronts Sakura informing her that she has released Clow Cards created by sorcerer Clow Reed. Each card possesses their own unique strengths which led Clow to sealing the book, but because Sakura released them once again it is up to her to save the world from peril. Sakura was then bestowed with the duty of a cardcaptor, and so she must team up with other characters to gather them back. Yue is one of the two guardians that watch over the Clow Cards, and his job is to determine who the next candidate will be to master the clow. Yue has the power to control the elements such as water and wind while also having the ability to cast magical barriers, send deadly crystal shards toward his enemies, and shoot energy arrows from an energy bow at will. As you can see by his appearance he resembles that of an angel which is why we made sure to include him in our top ten. His enormous wings allow him to fly at a moment’s notice while being able to take down enemies without much harm to himself. His ice cold blue eyes are intimidating which put intense fear into his opponents, allowing him to use telekinesis to cast them away.

Bleach will forever be a popular franchise in the anime universe because of its diverse cast of characters, and engaging story line. Ichigo is the staple character of the series with much of the story surrounding him and his battles within the soul society. Ichigo's abilities never really came into fruition until Rukia appeared and offered to take her powers so that he could save his family. One of the special abilities was flight, which allowed Ichigo to travel atop buildings and engage in battle without having wings. Majority of the characters in the series shared this ability but we chose Ichigo due to his personality and heroic characteristics. His goal was to hunt down and kill the hollows as part of the contract he made with the soul society, but as the story progresses his mission becomes even more daunting as he now must deal with a traitor in the society. One of Ichigo's greatest form in the series was his Mugetsu (Final Getsuga Tenshou) which increased his flying abilities with an additional teleport skill that allowed him to maneuver around his opponents with lightning speed.

The story takes place after Colony 195 and the intense war between the space colonies and Earth has begun. In order to provide the colonies with an edge over Earth, they send five highly trained soldiers equipped with mobile suits to pursue Earth. The tide of the war changes as the battle for freedom takes place in order to maintain peace within the space colonies. Gundam Wing is just one of those shows that will always come up in conversation at least once in the anime community. Honey's Anime loves Gundam Wing and so we came to the consensus that Hiiro Yui's Wing Zero should most definitely be on the list. Gundam Wing's story goes on for ages and so we had to break it down to our favorite pilot, since the Wing Zero reminds us of a robotic angel with an arsenal of weapons to strike down its foes. Hiiro had been trained since he was a child which gave him the title of “The Perfect Solider” and since then his mission was to protect the world against all evil. Hiiro and the Wing Zero were chosen because out of all the Gundam's from this particular series, the Wing Zero always overpowered every other suit ripping them to shreds at every moment’s notice. Hiiro is also a cool character because he lives by his emotions and uses tactical thinking to accomplish his tasks at hand.

Digimon was a very successful series during its release alongside Pokemon, which also grew to become a global success in its own right. Not too many people however seem to remember how great Digimon characters were, and so it's time we reintroduce them to the Honey's Anime universe. Coming in at number two is Angemon who is the partner of T.K. And guardian angel of children who decide to stay in the digital world. His level is champion and is the next form after Patamon. He comes equipped with six shining wings, while his body is clad in cloth to represent purity. Angemon was chosen for our number two spot because much of our list consist of characters who either have obtained their flying power from others, or use advanced technology to take to the skies. Angemon is pure in every sense of the word since he doesn't really rely on any gadgets, just his absolute power to take down darkness alongside the Digimon crew. While we don't see much of him until towards the mid to latter half of the series, it's worth noting that he is one of the strongest characters in the entire franchise and should not be overlooked. We hope that you check out Digimon because it is truly one of the better classic monster anime out there.

Dragonball Z is full of characters who can seem to take to the sky to defeat their enemies, but we only could choose from the cast and that's none other than Trunks. Trunks is the son of Vegeta and Bulma, who is half saiya-jin and half human just like Gohan and Goten. Due to his upbringing Trunks is very intelligent in the art of science and uses this strength to pass through time in order to save earth from destruction. There are two versions of Trunks, one is future trunks while the other is the younger version. Both can take to the sky without the help of Bulma's capsule since they inherited the saiya-jin power from Vegeta. Flying and teleporting is of no concern to Trunks as he used this power to overpower and kill Frieza very convincingly. Trunks has been a very popular character since his inclusion in the series and we thought he fit the description perfectly for the best flying anime character. What makes him so cool is that we get to see two sides of him, one from the more mature perspective and the other from his childlike persona. Seeing him charge his power up and fly across the world in less than a second is truly something to be amazed about, and so we must crown him as our flying champion.

Starting off the list at number 10 is Goro Miura, an inexperienced editor at Shonen Jack with a comedic and optimistic personality that helped Takagi and Mashiro in the serialization of their Detective Trap series. Though he is a novice at being an editor, he tries his best to make his manga creators successful in giving out advice based on his personal experience. Although Miura’s ideas aren’t always the best choices to go with, his method of doing things eventually leads him to swap positions with Hattori and ends up competing against Takagi and Mashiro. The reason that we think that Miura is one of the coolest characters is because of his strong determination and self-critical nature in doing his best to be a good editor. Despite his naivety and inexperience in the field leading to many mistakes, we think that Miura has an aura of coolness. This is because even though he loses his position as Ashirogi Muto’s editor, after becoming Iwase’s editor, he is determined to not lose to them. Which ends up pushing everyone forward, doing the right thing as an editor.

Next up at number 9 is Aiko Iwase, a former classmate of Takagi and Mashiro back in Junior High School. Iwase is an academic achiever whom competed with Takagi in exams but always ended up following behind him. She has a strict and highly competitive personality, and only respects people who are able to surpass her. Iwase believes that Takagi is a perfect match for her and pursues him as her love interest, however she doesn’t like the fact that Takagi is ‘wasting his talent’ on Manga and tries to dissuade him from walking down that path. She becomes a manga creator in order to compete directly with Takagi. Aiko Iwase is a contender on this list because of her cool personality in trying to gain the love and acceptance of Takagi. Unlike any other girl in the series, instead of trying to appeal to him with her charms she tries to make Takagi fall in love with her by showing off her ‘superior’ abilities. She has a ‘tsundere’ sort of nature where she appears tough but deep inside she really cares for Takagi and is embarrassed to show it. She maintains her cold image and pride, as her ego takes over in trying to persuade Takagi that she is a better fit for him than Kaya.

For the next cool character, we have none other than Nobuhiro Mashiro, the late uncle of Mashiro, who as a manga artist inspired Mashiro to follow his footsteps in becoming a successful manga artist. Nobuhiro went by the pen name of Kawaguchi Taro and created the gag manga known as Superhero Legend. He loved Miyuki Haruno who is Azuki Miho’s mother and had frequently written letters for her. However he couldn’t tell her about his love until he felt successful enough, by which time it was too late and she had married someone else. Nobuhiro is the person whom Mashiro looks up to the most, even though his manga skills were sub-par compared to the other competing artists, he still made a name for himself and never gave up. Nobuhiro had a determination to get published again after Superhero Legend finished. Even though he eventually died from overwork, he continued to create manga after learning that Miyuki had gotten married and he still believed she was still watching over him. His sheer determination and hardworking attitude is truly something to be admired, which is why he made it on this list as one of the coolest characters in Bakuman.

The following entry on the list goes to the one and only Miho Azuki, a beautiful and shy aspiring voice actress who is the love interest of Mashiro. Azuki promises Mashiro during junior high school that they will get married when she becomes the leading seiyuu in the anime adaptation of his manga. She has feelings for Mashiro but is too shy to express them and determines that they can’t see each other until they both become successful, however they are able to exchange emails to encourage each other. Azuki is on our list because of her cool demeanour, she remains loyal to Mashiro and has a strong willingness to wait for him even if it will take ‘forever’. Even though Azuki made a promise not to see Mashiro until the time was right, she can’t help but break her promise to visit him in the hospital when he was sick. She is always there for Mashiro and will do anything to help him achieve his dreams so that they can have a happy life together. Her strong determination and loyalty, is what makes her a strong contender on this list.

Coming in at number 6 is the genius manga artist known as Eiji Nizuma, an eccentric and clever high school student who is the rival of Ashirogi Muto. Nizuma has drawn manga ever since he was a child and moved to Tokyo. He loves manga and never fails to impress with his outstanding quantity and quality of work. Nizuma is known for his bizarre behaviour and poor manners but he shows great respect to his fellow authors. He is most notably associated with his greatest work, Crow, which was his first and also longest serialization. Even though Nizuma is the rival of Takagi and Mashiro, he is still their fan. Admitting that he will never lose to them as a manga artist, he still gives them advice and helps to push them to become the best they can be. Nizuma can appear a little strange and still acts like a kid, however his opinion and spot-on analytical abilities are highly valued by everyone at Shonen Jack. In his own way, Nizuma is definitely one of the cooler characters found in Bakuman also because of his humble and respectful attitude.

In the middle of the list we have Yuriko Aoki, a female manga artist who is first seen as extremely judgemental and dogmatic, but later becomes more kind and friendly over the course of her time as an artist. In a lot of ways similar to Iwase, however she has a distrust of men despite never having a romantic relationship. Aoki was initially extremely stubborn and was a difficult artist to work with, though she opens up more as she develops better relationships with the others authors at Shonen Jack, especially Takagi. Aoki has an innocent personality and also develops a crush on Takagi. At first, Aoki doesn’t trust men because she believes they are unreliable, but eventually learns to trust them after gaining more experience in the field. She ultimately gets engaged to Kazuya Hiramaru after he wins over her love. Initially, Aoki is a challenging author to work with, but has a willingness to learn and improve. After she develops better relations with the other characters, she becomes a kinder and more agreeable kind of person. Her strong character developing into a gentler person is what makes her a very cool character indeed.

At number 4, we have the highly competitive manga artist Shinta Fukuda. Fukuda is a rash and rather conceited individual that will sometimes do things only if he gets something beneficial in return. He is the rival of the other manga artists in Shonen Jack and his editor is Yujiro Hattori. Fukuda has a strong fighting personality, never giving up and trying his best to win in his own way. Fukuda knows a lot about manga and has a unique approach to the kind of manga he wants to create, where he expresses that more ‘unhealthy’ boys manga is needed in the world. Though Fukuda may seem hot headed and conceited at times, he has a good heart and he is willing to help his rivals, who he also sees as his friends. He has a cool demeanour that emanates from his personality and he also rides a motorcycle. Once an assistant of Nizuma, a manga artist he respects and aspires to be like, Fukuda tries to compete on his own against his former manga teacher and against Ashirogi Muto, using his own style and methods to reach the top.

Akira Hattori is our 3rd place recommendation. He is the first editor of Ashirogi Muto at Shonen Jack and has a calm type of personality. Hattori has a valuable ability as an editor to be able to see and give wise advice to manga creators based on their skills. He believes strongly in both Takagi and Mashiro, and even when they have problems with each other, Hattori goes out of his way to mend their relationship. He also helps Miura out in giving ideas that would be passed down to Ashirogi Muto, even though he was not their editor at the time. Hattori has a level of dedication to Takagi and Mashiro that is admirable, even expressing that he would quit his job if he were not allowed to be their editor again. He has a very caring attitude and is seen as one of the best editors in Shonen Jack. Hattori is a very cool person because not only is he very good at his job but also compassionate in helping others succeed.

Our runner up for the coolest character in the series goes to Moritaka Mashiro, one of the main protagonists in the series. Mashiro is a highly talented artist who is very competitive and has a perfectionist sort of personality. His best friend is Takagi ever since they started making manga together. Mashiro can be a little strict when it comes to manga deadlines and he is one of the most hardworking characters in Bakuman, and will do anything to make his dream come true. Mashiro is very sensitive and a bit obstinate, he is able to read people’s feelings very well but is quite stubborn in the sense that he doesn't give up easily. After promising the girl of his dreams, Azuki, he will not stop at anything until that dream does come true. He is a highly motivated individual but can be quite hopeless when it comes to romance, still acting like a child when he interacts with Azuki. However, we think that Mashiro deserves to be one of the coolest characters because of his sheer determination to achieve his dream for the love of his life.

At the top of our list of coolest Bakuman characters, we have the one and only Akito Takagi. The writer behind the Ashirogi Muto duo and the other protagonist of the series, he is an intelligent and friendly character who also tries his best in everything he does. His dream is to create a manga but lacks the drawing skills himself to do so and when he finds out about Mashiro's drawing ability, he is the one to propose teaming up to create manga. Takagi sacrifices his chance for a better life and to go to a better high school, to be in the same school as Mashiro, in order to achieve their dreams. Takagi has a very observational personality and is easily frustrated, but will not stop at any cost to keep up with Mashiro and his rivals. The reason we think that Takagi deserves the top spot on our list is because of his cool personality. He takes care of Mashiro whilst working on his various manga scripts, all while dating Kaya. Takagi has always been a high achiever in school therefore he doesn't like losing to anyone, his determination to win is very admirable and a very valuable trait to have.

An arch-wizard of the Crimson Demons and the first person to join Kazuma's party, Megumin is a perfect example of a mage who definitely defies appearance. At first glance, one might assume that she’s either an average girl or a witch of some sort. However, Megumin is actually an Explosive mage who has to create at least one explosion per day; otherwise, she’ll die. Even though her skills are limited to only creating explosions, Megumin’s explosions actually result in a higher burst damage output than most mages, and Megumin further develops her technique by building a higher speed incantation as well as passive enhancements to her explosions. Even though she refuses to learn other types of magic, Megumin is certainly a recent example of a powerful mage not to underestimate.

Despite living up to her nickname as “Louise the Zero” at the beginning of the series by being unable to perform magic properly, Louise grows to be a mage not to underestimate. The main female protagonist and the 3rd daughter of the Vallière family, Louise soon learns that she is one of a select few whose specialty is Void Magic, explaining the difficulty in her use of other types of magic due to its destructive nature as well as the lack of anyone to properly teach her. Eventually Louise learns to utilize other techniques such as creating an illusion and teleporting as far as she can see. She’s even able to create a World Door near the end of the series. Louise’s progression from someone lacking any ability into a certified mage earns her a spot on this list.

The Magician of Zetsuen and a minor character in the series, Hanemura Megumu serves as someone who possesses a lot of power yet is unaware of how powerful they really are. Hanemura enters the series curious as to whether he may be the Magician of Zetsuen, and decides to journey to the tree of Beginnings. Not only does he effortlessly defeat Hakaze along the way, Hanemura ends up destroying part of the Tree of Beginnings itself, leading him to become part of the Kusaribe clan and engaging in their schemes. Drawing upon the Tree of Zetsuen as his source, Hanemura’s can manipulate the red electrical energy generated into various forms, usually into various types of weapons such as a sword. Even though the magic itself is very simple, Hanemura’s presence as someone far stronger than most of the character take him to be proves how assuming how powerful someone is because of their appearance can be costly.

The main female protagonist, Index enters the series as someone on the run from multiple magicians threatening to harm her for the knowledge she possesses. Index is unusual for a mage in the sense that she herself cannot cast spells in the typical manner, but rather uses abilities costing no mana, such as intercepting her opponent’s spells as well as various defensive techniques that can result in powerful spells being casted despite her being almost lifeless. In addition, Index has an eidetic memory, allowing her to memorize the forbidden 103,000 magical texts known as grimoires, making her very dangerous as she consults this knowledge to aid her in combat by pinpointing weakness in her opponents spells. Index may not be a standard mage, but her vast knowledge of magic combined with the skills she does possess make her a legitimate threat.

One of the 3 main heroines of the series and the successor to the Tohsaka family, Rin serves as a mage with an incredible amount of potential who actually brings it to fruition. Rin is one of the rare mages in the series born with the capability to manipulate all 5 of the Elements: Water, Earth, Fire, Wind, and Ether. In addition, Rin perfects the use of storing magical energy into objects such as jewels as well as her signature attack of concentrating energy into her forefinger and firing it at her opponent. Rin can also rely on reinforcement spells to allow herself to run faster than normal people can perceive. Combined with her items and an affinity for magic that far exceeds the typical magi in the series, Rin deserves a spot in this ranking.

A magician who specialize in Ice Magic, Judar tends to revel in his mockery of others and tend to be both cruel and arrogant. However, Judar can back up his arrogance due to being trained since infancy by the members of Al-Thamen in magic, therefore having an almost limitless amount of Magoi, or energy. In addition, Jugar grows even more powerful when he obtains the memories of Matal Mogamett, adding more offensive spells to his arsenal of ice-related spells and defensive maneuvers. With an incredible fighting ability, multiple techniques to utilize, and a vats source of Magoi to draw from, Judar deserves to be among the most powerful mages.

Regarded as the greatest mage in Britannia, Merlin is one of the members of the 7 Deadly Sins and is known by the sin of Gluttony. Merlin is aided in her magical techniques by Morning Star Aldan, a special orb she can summon at will to aid her in techniques such as telekinesis or looking at various locations. Some of Merlin’s techniques include casting various types of illusions, levitation, and instantly teleporting herself, others, and items to distant places. Her strength is best demonstrated by defeating some of the greatest Holy Knights in Liones as well as Vivian, Liones’ most powerful mage. In addition, Merlin also possesses some powerful defensive spells such as canceling out her opponent’s magical attacks as well as reflecting her opponent’s attacks back at them. With a vast range of spells to choose from both offensive and defensive, Merlin certainly belongs on this list.

Despite the number of powerful mages that exist in Fairy Tale, Natsu Dragneel can’t be overlooked. The main protagonist of the series and the younger brother of the main antagonist Zeref, Natsu is trained to be a Dragon Slayer, learning the only known magic able to kill dragons. As a result, Natsu not only has enhanced speed and strength, he is also immune to flame and can ignite any part of his body with fire in order to strike his opponents. Despite being extremely reckless, Natsu’s loyalty to the Fairy Tail guild is second to none, and as the series progresses, he only becomes stronger and stronger as he furthers his understanding of Dragon King Magic. Definitely a very powerful mage when it comes to offense.

A young boy who serves as the protagonist in this anime, Ryner was formerly a student of Roland Empire's Magician Academy, a school devoted to training magicians. However, after a war results in the loss of many of his friends, Ryner and his best friend Sion Astal swear an oath to bring peace to their nation. While Sion serves as king, Ryner journeys throughout the land searching for relics belonging to heroes of the past in order to help bring peace as well as uncover the secret behind why his eyes are Alpha Stigma, or eyes that can analyze all forms of magic. Ryner’s display of natural ability is absolutely amazing not only through his magic, but also through hand to hand combat, assassination, and understanding ancient lore. What sets Ryner apart from most mages is the fact that he was able to demonstrate such amazing gifts at an early age as well as be the only mage not to lose his sanity when losing control of his Alpha Stigma abilities. With such a deadly combination present in one mage with a knack for magic, Ryner easily ranks among the best magi in anime.

An extremely talented yet mysterious character loosely associated with Demon Card, Sieghart feels that it is his purpose to protect the passage of time from the power of Etherion. Sieghart possesses an incredible affinity to create, control, and manipulate a vast amount of different elements: fire, water, earth, air, light, darkness, and even time and space itself just to name a few. As a result, it is almost impossible to defeat him in combat, and Haru finds out the hard way when Sieghart sets his sights on Elie. With a mastery of a massive list of different elements in addition to using the extent of his powers over time and space to help save the world at the end of the series, Sieghart is certainly the most powerful mage.

As we have two female leads, we need a tomboy in the film to balance things out, don’t you think the same? Besides that, boys of a tender age who meet girls who are new in town will not act, well… very natural, right? Actually, it might look like Kanta does not like our protagonists at first. Oh, the awkwardness! And the rudeness too... Well everyone, let’s take a careful look behind this. We will notice that Kanta has his warm moments. His granny is helping the girls’ family, so he sometimes brings stuff to the house, lends Satsuki an umbrella and helps to search for Mei when she disappears. In short words, give Kanta a little bit of time to adjust. He is warm in the end :)

Next, we have Kanta’s grandmother, nicknamed Granny. This adorable old lady can not be perceived as tall nor slender. But her figure looks---how do we say?---Comforting. Granny has the perfect height to have a conversation with the children of the movie (towering menacing adults, go away!). Plus, have we mentioned that she is always smiling? Since the Kusakabe family moves to their new home in the countryside, Granny has been a constant source of kindness and reassurance. With the girls’ mother away at the hospital, someone has to make sure a warm adult female presence is at the house, right? Granny also gets extra points in our Top Ten for sharing her cooking. Remember guys, sharing is caring :)

Mrs. Kusakabe appears on the film just a few times, so we can not say much about her. She is Satsuki and Mei’s mother, hospitalized due to an unknown illness (although some speculate it is pneumonia). Thus, Yasuko only appears with a hospital gown and her hair done in a ponytail. Her looks are not particularly remarkable, but we can seethat she is warm in her few interactions with her family. We should also really mention that Yasuko’s presence and warmth is felt throughout all the film. The rest of the Kusakabe family talks constantly about her, and Satsuki is shown writing letters to her mother. Let’s also not forget that, when the girls think Yasuko’s condition worsened, the climax of the film is provoked. All in all, Yasuko fills her role as a warm mother well.

One of the great moments of the film comes when Satsuki and Mei come inside their new home for the first time. Pay attention, because this is their first encounter with magical beings. Our girls freak out when they notice weird movements coming from thick, black specks of soot. They also have big, round, white, eyes. The Susuwatari (Sootballs) basically live in abandoned homes, but they are harmless. Well, perhaps they would look offensive to you if you are extra clean, but believe us. The Susuwatari are harmless and kind of a warm welcome for the girls, who calm down quickly and start exploring their new home. Meanwhile, the fuzzy, warm Susuwatari keep blinking and moving :)

It is time to introduce the head of the Kusakabe family. Tatsuo is a University professor who, in order to be closer to his sick wife, moves the family to the countryside. From this detail alone, we can infer he is warm. But just wait to see the beautiful scenes where Tatsuo takes care of his daughters. Family gatherings at the Kusakabes are simple but full of joy! Tatsuo also wins points at parenting and warmth for his attitude when Mei informs him that a giant beast called Totoro lives in the forest. He just answers that he might be a guardian spirit. Notice how he does not demean his daughters remarks. For being a warm and positive balance in the absence of his wife, Tatsuo deserves a post in our Top Ten.

Riding a bus to get anywhere in the countryside is so mainstream… That is why the Nekobus (Catbus) stands out. Imagine being able to ride a furry transport which mews. This goes one step beyond Alice in Wonderland and its Cheshire cat! Besides being a transport that obviously would be warm when the low temperatures strike, the Nekobus is quick and will take you anywhere you need to in a moment. Satsuki and Mei get into the furry transport vehicle to see their mother at the hospital, afterall. With its big smile and comfy structure, we cannot help but think that the Nekobus should be the warm transport of the future. But enough with the support characters. We are going to advance now to the protagonists...

Meet the oldest Kusakabe sister! Tall, thin and with short hair, it is said that Satsuki resembles her mother Yasuko. So, if we go with the lines of good upbringing, she should be kind and warm, right? Well, the reality is not far from that. Satsuki, as a good eldest sister in the absence of their mother, takes care of the house and family as best as she can. She especially looks after her sister Mei, thus their relationship is the most featured in the film. But this does not mean she is a full adult, Satsuki is still a child! So, when Mei talks to her about Totoro, she immediately believes her and wishes to meet him soon. For being open minded and adventurous with a good portion of maturity, Satsuki has a high spot in our Top Ten.

The good thing about Totoro is that he is not the only magical inhabitant of the forest. There are many other types of furry creatures of different sizes and colors. Among the Totoros, we have the Chuu Totoro (Middle sized Totoro), which looks basically as the biggest Totoro but is smaller and blue colored. He is seen in the film carrying a sack, probably of acorns (their food) or seeds. The other particularly interesting Totoro variance is the Ko Totoro (Small Totoro), which keeps the basic shape of the other Totoros but is much smaller, without arms and white. Mei’s first encounter with the Totoros is due to a Ko Totoro hiding on the bottom part of their new house. She chases him and, in the best Alice in Wonderland style, ends up entering the world of the warm critters. The presence of the Totoros during the movie marks especially tender moments with the girls, for example when they are all playing music (with conches?) sitting on the top of the trees. If that is not warm, what can possibly be?

Mei is the other protagonist of My neighbor Totoro. As a four year old, she is just starting to discover the world. As a tiny, slightly chubby and wide eyed girl, Mei is friendly and loves to have fun. She can also be stubborn sometimes and her emotions can flood pretty quickly, like when the sisters thought their mother was not feeling well. That is why Mei, in the best impulsive fashion of her short age, ran away trying to get to the hospital by herself. Our first encounters with the magical creatures of the forest are seen through Mei’s eyes. We can see here that she gets along very well with them. Mei is simply delighted with the biggest Totoro, so they quickly become friends. If there is one human character that embodies warmth in the film, that character has to be Mei.

So, we are finally here. The ultimate warm character in Tonari no Totoro is none other than Totoro himself! Much of it is due to his looks, we have to admit that is hard to resist a giant furry ball with mouse/rabbit features. Plus, he has round eyes and a small mouth that can transform in the biggest grin ever when he is happy. But well, what would it be of any characters looks without the right attitude to match them? Totoro at first just tolerates Mei’s presence, but they quickly become friends and is seen frequently on the girls’ whereabouts. He helps Satsuki and Mei to cultivate some seeds and is key when Mei goes lost. In sum, Totoro is one of those silent characters who shows and does not tell how truly warm he is!

As you probably know, Overlord is known for its overpowered main characters, and even though we’ll begin with one of the weakest characters on our list, Gazeff Stronoff is still considered the “strongest warrior of the kingdom”. He was born a commoner but his bravery and his strong will led him to become the King’s royal bodyguard. Gazeff is now feared and respected by the King’s enemies throughout the entire kingdom. Gazeff meets Momonga at Carne Village when the evil Sunlight Scripture appears to raid and destroy the village. As the fearless and honorable warrior he is, Gazeff charges head on against the evil mages, showing us his immense power and exceptional swordsman skills. However, Gazeff’s role is mostly important in this arc because he helps us understand the extent of Momonga’s powers by contrast.

Clementine is an awesome and very likeable antagonist character, one we initially believe capable of putting up a big fight against Momonga. She’s a rogue warrior and former member of the Black Scripture, the strongest group of evil warriors. As such, Clementine only lives to kill the weak and spread chaos and suffering throughout the kingdom. Despite being a dark and evil warrior, Clementine displays some very appealing features, such as her short blonde hair, her ear to ear smile and her huge breasts. Of course, she’s also permanently showing us how much of a psychopath she is by killing people just for fun and even attacking her own allies. Unfortunately, we don’t get to enjoy her for too long, since she manages to call Momonga’s attention and she makes the terrible mistake of fighting him. It doesn’t end well for poor old Clementine. :/

Cocytus is a giant and fearsome insect-like creature who guards the fifth floor of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. He is one of Momonga’s most loyal guardians and probably the scariest of them all. Cocytus field of expertise are weapons of all kinds. In fact, he has been programmed to know about all the Supreme Beings’ Divine Weapons. Cocytus has a warrior spirit and respects anyone who proves to be an honorable fighter. For Cocytus there is nothing outside the battlefield, and all that matters to him are honor and loyalty. That is why he is constantly willing to prove his allegiance by facing anyone who may become a threat to the Great Tomb of Nazarick. That’s definitely one intimidating bodyguard.

Demiurge is a really cool-looking demon in fancy clothes as well as the guardian of the seventh floor of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. He is one of the most intriguing characters in Overlord because of his superior intellect and his sadistic personality. In fact, Demiurge looks so evil and manipulative that we can’t know for sure if he is really as loyal to Momonga as the rest of the NPCs. Demiurge is probably the most rational and relatable NPC, since he can (to some extent) think for himself on what’s the best for his master, even disregarding Momonga’s orders sometimes. For instance, he intended to stop his master from fighting Shalltear, but he was restrained from doing so by Cocytus and Albedo. On that occasion, Demiurge showed himself really worried about Momonga, which makes us think he is indeed loyal to his master. We’re still keeping an eye on him, though.

Of course, Overlord is not only home to awesome OP characters. There’s also room for the fluffy and the kawaii on this show and Hamsuke is the living proof of that. Hamsuke is a cute gigantic hamster and one of the Three Monsters who inhabit the Great Forest of Tob. Hamsuke is feared by the people living near the Great Forest of Tob, who regard him as the Wise King of the Forest. The legend says that he’s a terrible monster capable of using magic and possessing incredible power. Quite shockingly, Hamsuke turns out to be this huge cuddly hamster who ends up being Momonga’s pet. Kawaii ne? :3

Aura Bella Fiora is a tomboyish dark elf girl and one of the twin guardians of the sixth floor of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. She’s always cheerful and she loves playing around and bossing her little twin brother, Mare. Aura is also one of Momonga’s most trusted and loyal servants as seen a couple times in which he asked for her assistance in some of his most important quests. Aura’s specialty is hunting and taming magic beasts, which is why Momonga asked for her help to lure out the Wise King of the Forest. She follows Momonga’s every order even against her own will and she always gets the job done. That, along with her charismatic personality and her cuteness, is surely the reason why she’s one of her master’s most beloved guardians.

Narberal Gamma is a cold-hearted member of Nazarick’s battle maid squad, the Pleiades. She is known for her extreme beauty as well as for her merciless and xenophobic personality. Narberal Gamma is a proud servant who regards humans and anyone with low powers as an inferior form of life that ought to be exterminated. Narberal Gamma is picked by Momonga as his adventure partner in some of his quests, especially during the Dark Warrior Arc, where she takes the name of Nabe. Then, we end up witnessing her full potential in her battle against the necromancer Khajiit Dale Badantel. Even though she’s just a battle maid, Nabe has no difficulties facing one of the most powerful evil wizards in the kingdom. This is certainly one maid nobody would want to mess with.

And we finally got to the sexy gothic loli of the show, the lovely and deadly Shalltear Bloodfallen. She’s a vampire girl and the guardian of the first, second and third floors of Nazarick. Shalltear is short-tempered and very possessive of her master, which often causes her to fight Albedo over Momonga’s love. Shalltear Bloodfallen is the childish yet fearsome little girl who steals the show during the last few episodes, where she’s brainwashed and commanded to stand against her master. Shalltear Bloodfallen turns out to be one of the most powerful guardians of Nazarick and a most terrible foe even for Momonga, who has to bring out the heavy artillery in order to defeat her. Shalltear Bloodfallen is the only character so far that has made Momonga sweat, and that is definitely more than enough to earn her a place at the top of our list.

Albedo is the Overseer of all the Floor Guardians of Nazarick. She’s the main hottie of the show and she’s always flirting with her beloved master. Albedo is completely head over heels for Momonga as made evident every time she attempts to get physical with him, and much more disturbingly when she is found in her master’s bed getting kinky with a Momonga body pillow. By what we get to know, Albedo is not only the most gorgeous and perverted demon girl in the show. She’s also the highest ranked NPC and the one who’s closest to Momonga in power level. We’re really looking forward to seeing her in action. In any kind of action. ;)

The great Momonga-sama, overlord of the Great Tomb of Nazarick and former leader of Ainz Ooal Gown, the greatest guild in the MMORPG Yggdrasil. He has now taken the name of his guild as his own in order to catch the attention of other players that might be trapped in this world just like him. With this idea in mind, Momonga, now known as Ainz Ooal Gown, is determined to make himself known all across the kingdom, even if he has to conquer everything along the way. Momonga, Momon, Ainz Ooal Gown, Sorcerer King, Bony Guy or whatever you want to call him is an absolutely fascinating character. We don’t often get such interesting and overpowered main characters in anime. And it’s not just his power that makes Momonga cool, it’s also how cold and ruthless he can be, for instance when his party is brutally murdered and he’s actually glad that he doesn’t have to deal with them anymore. We all love a good anti-hero every once in awhile. Momonga is a total badass!

Meet the Gothic Lolita of Dimension W. This gorgeous blond girl is a collector like Kyouma, which means that Elizabeth also hunts down illegal devices. There is an important thing here, though. Elizabeth is the helper of her father, who is hunting down the devices for the sake of his own agenda (we will see more about this later). Anyway, Elizabeth’s speciality is the use of drones in the form of flying animals. That is why she helps plan his father’s operations, films him and also buys him time to escape from justice. So, not bad for such an innocent looking lady. Beware of Elizabeth, she has some clever moves hidden behind her whimsical smile!

Julian is a masked thief with the hilarious nickname of Loser, as he always fails to steal something. But this is just a front for Julian, who has a tragic past. This brilliant man used to work for New Tesla Corporation as top researcher. At first, the technology to canalize energy from Dimension W was imperfect (like any other technology at first, mind you). Nevertheless, the experiments with the original devices (called Numbers) costed Julian parts of his body and the life of his wife. That’s why he became thirst for revenge. So, why is Julian clever? Well, this scientist was working with Seameyer and Yurizaki on the Genesis project (more about that later). He later became a foe of the Corporation, so he collects illegal devices. Julian tricks people into believing he is inoffensive but he has his own agenda. Plus, he notices that Albert discovered his intentions. Julian also manages to incorporate special devices into his suit, becoming a dangerous foe.

This mature blond with purple rays on her hair always looks cool and dresses sophisticatedly. And just look at those blue eyes that are slightly severe but determined! Yet, her voice is gentle and composed. We can see a gift for command there. Unsurprisingly, Claire is the Chief Operations Officer of New Tesla Corporation’s Central 47. She is the one behind the operations to find illegal devices! As Claire is responsible for several lives and covert missions, we know Claire has to be clever. She doesn’t get a higher post because she is not shown a lot… which is something we would like to explore further in more seasons of Dimension W (please, Studio 3Hz) :)

Here we have a handsome man with shoulder length-blond hair. Albert occasionally collects his hair in a loose ponytail, which shows off his laid back personality. And that sly smile! But don’t let these details distract you. When business gets serious, Albert can be very efficient and clever. Not for nothing, Albert works under Claire Skyheart’s supervision. He collects information for New Tesla Corporation and notices Kyouma’s abilities, thus hiring him to recover the illegal coils. Albert also knows that Loser has his own agenda, so he tries to make trouble for Loser. In short, this guy is the best support team a device hunter could wish for! Albert’s abilities to recover the coils truly make of him a relaxed but clever fellow.

Let’s give way to the one and only android in Dimension W: Mira! This cute girl with curious green hair and a tail is called an android because she considers herself a human. Apparently, the Yurizaki’s research granted Mira a fully functional brain. Therefore, Mira developed a personality on her own accord. Plus, she was considered a daughter of the Yurizaki’s, thus she adopted their name. But wait, there is more to this cutey than just looks! She can carry heavy weights, endure great damage, and is extremely agile. Mira also can overrun computer systems, connect herself to the coils, and detect anomalies in the dimensions. Mira was not very combat savvy at the beginning, but she started learning self defense. This is proof that Mira can learn new tricks! Talk about having a talking and walking super personal computer. That is what we would call clever!

Meet Koorogi, head technician of the Recovery House. This is the secret headquarters for the group of device hunters, which poses as an ordinary cafe. Anyway, Koorogi is a dark skinned guy with a peculiar smile and demeanor who wears a curious helmet on the shape of a cricket. His name means cricket, so… we can see his extravagant personality on this prop. But then, why is Koorogi clever? Well, he is a genius who had to repair the android Mira once. Mira is not your regular android, so we can see that Koorogi is something here. Plus, he even improved Mira by adding skin folds to conceal her power source! Koorogi also can hack other androids, helping out with hunting devices with his powerful brain. We can only wish to see more of this character too, because Koorogi makes us curious about how things work out.

This guy looks simply creepy, doesn’t he? Haruka can be considered the main villain in Dimension W, but he has an interesting back story that is quite typical among mad scientists. Haruka was a passionate researcher pursuing an ambitious discovery (named Genesis) within New Tesla Corporation. Unfortunately, the bosses decided to suppress his research and Haruka went mad. He became rebellious towards his former patrons, pursuing his research through illegal means and inciting other brilliant scientists to join his cause. So, why do we say Haruka is clever? At first, he was Shido Yurizaki’s student. That alone has to count for something. Secondly, Haruka rebelled against New Tesla Corporation and was doing well underground for a while. And thirdly, he advanced his knowledge so much that he became a true threat to the world. That is why Kyouma was sent after Haruka. Which takes us to the next character...

So, here we have the protagonist of Dimension W: Kyouma Mabuchi. This tall guy with a beard is a full man with certain eccentricities. Our protagonist loves old things and does not mind paying a lot for gasoline in a world where limitless energy is possible in other ways. Yet, he has his reasons for pinning for this particular style. Kyouma’s girlfriend, Miyabi, apparently died during a failed experiment with the devices. That is part of the reason why he decides to become a hunter, in order to get rid of unnecessarily dangerous technology. And a damn good hunter Kyouma is! Kyouma has survived battle after battle, using his favorite weapons (Skewers, similar to knives), his finely attuned survival instinct, and his combat cleverness to hunt down coils. Nevertheless, perhaps Kyouma’s most clever skill is his ability to embrace change. He ends up realizing Mira’s value, despite of being part of the modern technology. Kyouma is truly a complex character who realizes not everything is what it seems… which is a very clever thing to do :)

Seira was the wife of Shido Yurizaki. If the doctor is a genius, this black haired woman could not be behind him. Seira was a badass at prosthetics and robotics, a career that lead her to become the creator of the androids. But let’s explain a little bit more about that… Seira tried to intervene to save Miyabi’s life, creating a prosthetic body for her. Although the operation failed and Seira was injured, she generated enough research from the incident to create Mira. And yeap, thus she became the inventor of androids! Unfortunately, it was precisely this research which costed Seira her life. Seira was clever, but she could not survive till the end (snif). That is why the number one goes to...

Here we have the man himself, Shido Yurizaki. Shido looks respectable, solid and a little worn out, as any star scientist in good health should. We can expect cleverness from a regular scientist, but in Shido’s case, he was called “the physicist of the century”. This guy created the devices called coils, which absorb the energy from Dimension W. Thus, a new era was born. Shido also founded the New Tesla Corporation, creating and leading an energy empire. That’s such a cool and clever way to rule the world!... But does his genius stop there? Not at all! After his wife and daughter died, Shido went into hiding. He conducted more research on the coils while Mira acted as his “eyes and ears” in the outside world. The truth is that, understanding that the coils were going to be misused for military purposes, Shido decided to destroy and/or imperfect as much of them as he could. And that’s exactly what he did with his new invention, the Double Coil. At present, Shido’s whereabouts are unknown. Did he die in the Double Coil explosion? Or is he still cleverly fighting against the misuse of technology? We wish we would know ><

The anime left out that detail as to why the sisters came into being, but it is clear that these little girls are inseparable and it’s technically rude to put one of them on a different number. Rom and Ram are the younger siblings of CPU of Lowee Blanc and each of them has some traits found in their sister. Rom is shy, quiet and doesn’t say much while Ram is playful and the more dominant. Though not full-fledged goddesses like their sister, Rom and Ram are still CPUs that, given time, will one day rule the land of Lowee… That’s assuming Blanc actually ages and/or retires. With their different personalities, they also have different roles in combat. Known as the White Sisters, Rom and Ram, they are always seen together during combat. Rom is capable of direct combat, she is more of the support type and Ram is the offensive type. Like every young sister on the list, their CPU powers manifested when their big sisters get into trouble.

While her role in the anime was scaled down, Arfoire, the series’ main antagonist, is also a goddess. Given there are a number of games and she’s always the bad guy in these games, you’ll get the impression what type of villain she is: A persistent villain who doesn’t know when to quit. Arfoire might actually win against Bowser Koopa as the world’s most persistent villain if she keeps this up. Cocky, cold and a sore loser, Arfoire is a formidable enemy with the ability to shapeshift and the ability to copy the powers of other goddesses. And when the going gets tough, like when she’s outnumbered 4 to 1, she can unleash her true form by becoming a powerful and gigantic… eggplant... thing… Wait, what? Hey, being an eggplant farmer isn’t really a bad profession!

Peashy is your bratty kid who is playful and sometimes can be a handful, despite her petite build, she can pack a mean punch. Peashy’s CPU form, Yellow Heart, is dramatic, giving her a full grown body and breasts that could rival Vert’s, but her personality is mostly the same but with added emphasis that she treats every battle like it’s a game. Game or not, Yellow Heart favors destructive power over anything else. Aside from being a brat, she is still a kid who has loving siblings, and thankfully for her, Neptune is a good big sister. Peashy knocking out Neptune with a good uppercut may be her own way of showing love, but we’ll never know for sure. Unless you’re willing to give her punches a try.

One of the 4 goddesses of the Gamindustri, Blanc rules over the land of Lowee and represents the Nintendo and Nintendo Wii series. Blanc is quiet and apathetic at times, but she cares a lot for her people, and of her younger sister's, Rom and Ram. However, Blanc is sort of bipolar and she can be foul-mouthed towards everyone when provoked or even slightly annoyed. So it’s best you don’t mention you accidentally read one of her fantasy story books she has written. Blanc’s violent outburst and short temper are multiplied when she transforms into White Heart, as she is the most violent and gets easily pissed offed out of the 4 main goddesses in this form. And for a goddess of her size (she’s the smallest among the 4), she likes to wield gigantic hammers and axes with highly destructive efficiency. One would wonder why Blanc prefers these kinds of weapons, though. Maybe it’s to compensate for her height or her chest that is so flat you can land a cargo plane on it.

Uni is the younger sister of the goddess Noire, of the country Lastation, and has big sister issues. Very big, big sisters issues. Uni looks a lot like Noire, sharing some of that trademark tsundere attitude, but Uni is more friendly and isn’t too focused on making her country functioning like her sister. One thing’s for sure, though, Uni loves her big sister Noire so much she takes every opportunity to get Noire’s attention. Like Rom and Ram, Uni is a CPU candidate and her power to transform into Black Sister manifested after seeing Noire’s life in danger. Uni prefers long range attacks using her oversized rifle, hitting fast moving targets and sometimes hitting two with one hit. Aside from her black hair turning white when in HDD form, her breast size shrinks for some reason. Don’t tell her that, though.

Nepgear is the exact polar opposite of her big sister Neptune: responsible and timid. Nepgear takes her role as CPU candidate very seriously and does every task while her big sister is out goofing off, sleeping, or playing video games all day. Nepgear loves to tinker or make various gadgets ranging from portable cameras to trackers. But one thing they have in common though is Nepgear is very friendly, can make lots of friends, and is an airhead. I guess it runs in the family… them being airheads. A beam saber is Nepgear’s main weapon and she is a skilled combatant, but not skilled enough to defeat hordes of monsters like her big sister. In her HDD form, Purple Sister, Nepgear has a more confident personality and is more serious without that airheadedness trademark. Purple Sister favors a gun blade and while she’s more of a ranged fighter in this form, she can deal lots of damage up close.

Not sure what Idea Factory was thinking when making Vert, one of the 4 main goddesses, CPU of Leanbox, and representative of Microsoft's Xbox line of consoles because Yaoi/BL visual novels were certainly not in Xbox or Xbox 360 game libraries. Anyway, Vert is the most mature goddess of the group in both body and personality. She is hardworking, calm, polite, and supportive, and has the biggest breasts that she proudly shows off to everyone. Especially towards Blanc (probably that explains why Blanc is so pissed off all the time). Vert doesn’t have a younger sister, but she treats Nepgear as one and loves her as much as Neptune. Vert is also an avid gamer and games a lot more than Neptune, and you can see Vert binge gaming MMOs almost every day. Oh, and she loves playing Yaoi/BL visual novels. In her Green Heart form, Vert is more stubborn, arrogant and prideful (especially her breasts) that she often teases her opponents and friends, like teasing Blanc for not having enough “processing power.”

Noire is popular amongst fans for many reasons. First, Noire and her nation Lastation represents Sony’s PlayStation 3. Second, is she’s extremely tsundere, especially towards Neptune. And lastly, she loves cosplay. As the CPU of Lastation, Noire is very dedicated in making her nation the best, so you see her working non-stop, eventually pushing herself too much. To the eyes of her people, Noire is the perfect goddess who is mature, calculated and imposing, but Noire sings a different tune when she’s around troublemakers and rival-friend goddess, Neptune. Every time Neptune does something annoying, Noire turns into this cute tsundere, fighting back against Neptune’s comebacks and playful insults. And like a tsundere, Noire considers Neptune as one of her first true friends. When Nore turns into Black Heart, she is very aggressive and competitive, like when she competes with other goddesses to see who gets to land the finishing blow first. Noire prefers the fast attacks of a rapier and also prefers heavy swords and gun blades when in her HDD form.

Neptune is the main protagonist of the series and, to many fans, she is the best character all around with her fourth-wall-breaking one-liners, klutzy attitude, playfulness, love for video games, love for food, and can kick serious ass in any form. But be sure not to throw an eggplant her way, though. The goddess Neptune and her country Planeptune is loosely based on a canceled successor of the Sega Dreamcast, the Sega Neptune, and while her playful demeanor and the habit of not doing goddess activities (like making Planeptune and her people happy), is just busywork for her. However, throughout the course of the anime, Neptune does realize her immaturity can get people hurt, like how she hurt Peashy. Neptune’s HDD form, Purple Heart, is, in terms of combat style, identical to Black Heart, who prefer swords and gun blades. Black Heart is also aggressive and competitive with none of the klutzy personality and the habit of breaking fourth walls.

What happens if you mix sadism and Neptune together? Your answer is probably Plutia or Pururut in Japanese. Plutia is the CPU of Planeptune from another dimension and she is currently hanging out with Neptune. Much like Neptune, Plutia often neglects her goddess duties and prefers playing and sleeping all the time. She is very soft-spoken, gentle and values friendship above all else, but in combat, she can pack a punch that rivals that of Peashy. If Plutia can kill a monster by whacking it with a stuffed doll, that’s a sign that Plutia isn’t the type of girl you wanna piss off. And if you do piss her off, oh boy, better start praying because you’re gonna meet your Maker very soon. Neptune and friends try very hard to prevent Plutia from activating her HDD form because Iris Heart is one hell of a personality. When Plutia transforms into Iris Heart, her personality changes drastically from a soft-spoken, gentle and friendly girl, to one sadistic dominatrix who gains pleasure from hurting either friend or foe by whipping them and hurling insults to destroy their ego. Iris Heart is based on the Sega Genesis and her sadism is based on Sega’s aggressive marketing campaign against Nintendo’s Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in the 90s. So what makes her number 1 than Neptune? It’s no doubt, Neptune is a great character with traits fans find appealing and relatable, but Plutia is a way more unique character with very different personalities. From a cute girl who loves making stuffed dolls, to a sadistic and sexy dominatrix with matching whip sword, Plutia single-handedly stole the show. This is one console war Sega clearly won.

The Clocktower Fortress is the home of the 1121st Platoon of the Helvetian Army. Kanata Sorami is the newest member, who enlisted to become a bugler. She is full of energy, innocent, cute and a little bit clumsy; a good example of a Moe character. She loves the sound of the trumpet and she wants to be a professional bugler. She is always in a good mood, filled with curiosity and optimism. But, sometimes she is not good at reading the atmosphere. Thanks to that unawareness, it’s easy for her to be happy. In regards to music, she has perfect pitch, being able to identify any musical notes. However, she still needs to work hard in her performances.

This muscular former wrestler is the drummer for the band Fire Bomber. Veffidas hardly speaks, so nobody knows much about her past, but when she does, it is a short sentence having a great impact. Despite her reclusive personality, she really cares for the other members of the band. When she is not practicing the drums she is drumming on something with her drumsticks, from tables to jet engines. Later, she and her band mates join the independent military group Sound Force, sharing a variable fighter with Ray Lovelock. She is a powerful drummer, quoting The Stone Roses: “she bangs the drums”.

Michiru appears in the third story arc of Sailor Moon, fighting together with another four soldiers in order to defend the Solar System. Michiru is known as Sailor Neptune, and her influential element is the sea, although she can’t manipulate water. She has natural psychic powers, being able to detect dangerous situations. Michiru is one of the most beautiful characters of this anime, not only because of her physical appearance, but also because of her way of being. She is caring and kind, always with a smile on her face. Brilliant and intelligent, she is a talented and admired young violinist who is already performing her own concerts. She also belongs to the music club and the swimming club of her school: Mugen Gakuen, an elite academy where only brilliant students are enrolled. Her violin, a Stradivarius named Marine Cathédrale, is also used as a weapon in the deep sea violin tide attack, but only in the manga.

Yuki is an artificial human with a lot of paranormal abilities such as creating a baseball bat than only hits home runs or reconstructing a classroom which was totally destroyed. She can manipulate the properties and the materials of the environment anyway she wants to, and also is capable of doing things that require superhuman strength, agility, or stamina. Yuki is the only member that joined “voluntarily” to the SOS Brigade. She was reading a book in the empty Literature Club when Haruhi claimed from that moment on it would be the SOS Brigade's clubroom, and Yuki was just fine about it. She is a rational thinker, but prefers body language instead of words. Because of her high level of intelligence she can understand any subject almost instantaneously and that’s why she was able to play the guitar a few moments after receiving one and to memorize a piece of music just from one glance.

Touma is a solitary and sometimes arrogant student of the Houjou University Attached High School. As she usually skips classes or falls asleep in the middle of a lesson, most of the teachers have given up on her. She is distant to anyone except from Haruki Kitahara, her seatmate. At the beginning of the anime, when Haruki is practicing his guitar, he hears a saxophone playing in the room next to him. They play together every day after school without knowing each other. When Haruki finds out his mysterious partner is Touma, he and Setsuna insist that she join the Light Music Club. She is not only good with the saxophone, but also with the piano. She wants to be as great as her mother, who is a famous trumpeter and by the end of the anime she moves to Vienna to be with her.

Influenced by her dad, who is a professional player, Reina has been playing the trumpet almost all of her life. She is a calm, quiet and cool girl, not very social, but really passionate when it comes to music. She is the tsundere type of girl, but when she smiles, she is unbelievably beautiful. She is portrayed like a mysterious girl focused on her way to success. She’s usually distant and only shows her real feelings to her loved ones. Kumiko’s friendship breaks Reina’s walls, and a nicer and more tender side of her character is revealed. Then, Reina confesses that she plays the trumpet because that is her way of being special.

She started playing the bass because Ritsu suggested her to do it. She chose the bass because due to her shyness, she didn’t want to be the center of attention, like the guitarist. She plays a left-handed Fender Jazz Bass named “Elizabeth”, and she does it really well. Mio is very mature despite her age, but she is totally afraid of scary or gore stories. She is a very good student, always getting the top grades of the class. Actually, besides playing the bass, I think studying is her other hobby. She is totally devoted to the Light Music Club and quite technical with regard to music. She taught Yui a few guitar lessons and tutorials. Although she doesn’t like to be in the spotlight, she agreed to act like the lead vocalist in the school festival. Unfortunately, by the end of the concert she fell to the floor exposing her panties, causing her a new trauma.

Kaori is a beautiful violinist who helps Kousei Arima return to the piano and face the music again after his mother's death. Kaori’s playing style is just like her personality. I have to confess I have a sort of crush on Masami. She is one of the coolest anime characters I’ve ever seen and she deserves the 2nd place in the list. Masami is also the lyricist and the music composer of the group. Even though she is usually quiet and silent, she expresses herself through her music. She is described as a “music nut” by her mates because she is really serious and responsible when it comes to music. She had a tough life, her parents were always fighting, and she found shelter in music. Now it’s her life… or rather her afterlife.

Also known as Nodame (Noda – Me/gumi), is a second year music student at Momogaoka Music Academy who plays the piano by ear in an amazing way, so amazing that she tops this ranking. She is the perfect mix between cute and weird, being totally terrible at cooking, living in a messy apartment and referring to herself in third person. But when talking about piano, she is an incredibly talented artist playing in a cantabile style. She has a crush on Chiaki since she first found him drunk in front of her apartment. She follows him everywhere claiming to be his wife and being completely dependent on Chiaki. She also has little ambition to become a professional musician, what she really wants is to become a kindergarten teacher. She gradually changes her attitude toward music because of Chiaki, and starts to be a more serious student. But it really doesn’t matter if she can read a musical score or if she plays by ear, because she plays with so much feeling and passion that you can fly away with her to Nodame’s world.

In order to stop it, the great Fourth Hokage sacrifices his own life to seal the beast inside the baby known as Naruto. Fast forward to the future, Naruto is now a hard headed ninja student causing all sorts of trouble inside the village. Shunned by the people of the village for having the Kyuubi curse inside him, He struggles to find recognition and acceptance. Fueled by a goal to become a Hokage someday, he goes into an adventure that will gain him new friends and life lessons that will teach him how to become a great ninja. Any fighting list is incomplete without mentioning Naruto. It is impossible not to know how awesome fight scenes in Naruto are if you came across anime before. There are many fight scenes in Naruto but we have decided to pick Sakura and Ino for this list as it was a defining moment on how powerful these two shinobi girls are. It was a great rivalry and an evenly matched fight. The strategic approach and the mind games, which the anime is known for was a huge suspense builder for this scene. It was a great moment for anime fans to finally watch Sakura and Ino set their differences aside and just give their all.

The Story of Mirai Nikki revolves around Yukiteru Amano, a student that prefers to be alone, spending most of his time writing a diary on his cell phone. Accompanied only by his imaginary friend named Deus Ex Machina, he goes about his daily life as a loner. Deus, the God of time and space suddenly reveals his true identity to Yukiteru and grants him a “Future Diary” and puts him ,among eleven other participants, in a battle royale among others holding powerful diaries. Each “future diary” is unique and has special abilities and all of the contestants must now kill one another in order to survive and become the new god of time and space. This top 10 list will not be complete without mentioning Mirai Nikki, The fight between Minene and Muru Muri is cruel and violent as any anime can get. This fast paced action scene is incredible to watch even if you repeat it a couple of times. The life and death setting also adds to this exciting and gruesome fight. Do not underestimate the cuteness of Muru Muri as she is no walk in the park opponent. Filled with dark magic and graceful acrobatic movements, this scene will be remembered as one of the best anime girl fights ever created. If you want an anime with a good story and do not mind watching bloody scenes, we really recommend you watch Mirai Nikki.

Yamato Naoe is a student living in Kawakami City, a city known for having strong beliefs to always follow the samurai code. This is what inspires Yamato and his six closest friends to give their best when going through life. They have created a deep bond with one another, making them a perfect team that motivates each member of the group. Their friendship will now be tested as two new girls show up and join the group. Keeping the samurai way of thinking within themselves, they must now try to maintain the perfect balance of friendship they had before, while dealing with the change these two girls have brought to their group. While compiling a list of great anime battles among girls, Momoyo was instantaneously a good choice because she is just an awesome character. This particular scene proves why she should be mentioned on this list. Battling three young students on her own is no easy task and she does not seem to overpower them either. The balance of not knowing who will win despite the heavy disadvantage is what made this scene epic. We’ve all seen sword fighting with magical powers between girls before but, we have never seen a single girl take on three opponents all at once and still hold her ground. This action packed anime should keep you busy and entertained for a while.

An old clan of warriors known as the Manyuu has inherited a special ability to strike their opponent that would not severely hurt them but rather shrink their bust size. It may sound like a useless skill to have but, in this particular era, large breasts signify wealth and popularity. Chifusa, the chosen successor of the Manyuu clan has not fully accepted her clan’s traditions and even grew disgusted with the Manyuu’s breast obsession. She decides to run away stealing the sacred scroll that posses various secret techniques on how to have huge and beautiful breasts. Now considered as an enemy of her own clan, she must defend herself in order to finally bring equality on the Manyuu clan. Fan service has always been a secret reason for why we love anime girls so much. To see ninja girls fighting with big breasts, regardless of how simple the sword fighting might be, will always be very entertaining to watch. The battle between Chifusa and Kagefusa is exactly that. Despite the simplicity of it, what really hooked our attention to it was the amount of fan service that was inserted into making this scene. We also felt that the conclusion of the battle was also a fun twist which made it very memorable. You might say that we are simple minded anime geeks but, it’s hard not to like an anime when you see battles with bouncing breasts. If you are looking for an ecchi anime with a lot of fighting scenes that will keep you smiling regardless of how predictable they may be, you are surely going to enjoy Manyu Hiken-Cho.

Ikkitosen revolves around the story of Hakufu Sonsaku, a beautiful but dim-witted student who is destined to unite a long time turf war among seven schools. These rival schools have powerful representatives who are equipped with sacred jewels containing the souls of great warriors. Drawing the power from these magical beads, these students have been blessed with great abilities to be used against each other. Hakufu’s presence has alarmed the other schools as she seems to impose a threat to this long term war. Destined to fight, she struggles to put a stop to the endless battles while also dealing with her own dark warrior side. A list of girls fighting is not complete without panty shots and bouncing boobies. It should not come to a surprise to you that Ikkitousen is filled with a lot of clothes-ripping fight scenes since most of the girl characters barely keep their clothes on during battles. This particular battle is no exception and we don’t see any reason to complain about the loss of clothing in it. It is a fierce battle and clothing just gets in the way! Did you mention super powers? Okay. This anime has martial arts and powers but with less clothing, what more can you ask for?

Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica Movie 3: Hangyaku no Monogatari follows the story of Homura Akemi who is under unfortunate circumstances, left to fight of evil alone as a magical girl. Everything seems normal as she goes about her routine to rid the city of evil but she is mostly left uneasy sensing misfortune and danger ahead of her. She tries to uncover the mysteries behind the cruel fate that awaits magical girls but in the process crosses paths with an unexpected rival. This movie is a based off the Mahou Shoujo Madoka franchise that will close the story about these five magical girls. If you can’t hold your breath for about six to seven minutes, you might want to practice now because the battle between Akemi Homura and Tomoe Mami will keep you breathless. If you think you have seen all the finest gun battles among girls, then surely you have missed one of the most epic bullet frenzy duels in anime history. This is not an exaggeration, we speak only the truth because this fight is both superbly animated and is just well thought of. If you are new to the Mahou Shoujo Madoka Franchise, we highly recommend giving the series and the other movies a chance as they are definitely worth watching.

Do not be fooled by his delinquent face, Ryuuji Takasu is as gentle as a cat. He is a typical high school student who loves to cook and clean despite his intimidating aura. Taiga Aisaka on the other hand, is an angel faced doll that looks to be very shy but is really the opposite as she has a fierce and brutal personality. A twist of fate has brought them together on an agreement to help each other with their crushes, who happen to be both of their best friends. Toradora! is a romantic comedy filled with a surprising fight scene that only made it better. Fall in love with this duo while they help each other out to pursue their love interests. We all love to see women fight! Don’t we? Have you ever seen women fight in school? Well if you still haven’t, you will owe us big time when you see this awesome fight between Taiga and Sumire. The perfect phrase to describe it is “short and sweet”. The build up and unpredictability of the fight is what made it to this list. Girls in school uniforms fighting with wooden swords?! Are you freaking kidding me? How can somebody digest all this awesomeness in a short amount of time? I’ve raised so many questions writing this piece, but this is to just to show you how memorable this scene was for many of its fans and why it deserved to be in this list.

Akame ga Kill! is an action packed anime known for its bloody fight scenes. The story starts with Tatsumi, a well trained fighter who has left his village that is drowning in poverty created by the authorities. He is shocked to face the truth when he realizes that the Imperial City is taken over by corruption, evil and greed from supernatural entities. He finds himself in the care of a covert group of assassins that was assembled to overthrow the current Prime Minister. Faced with a lot of challenges, the Night Raid’s ideals have convinced Tatsumi to join the group and together they must eliminate the Empire who has left their nation in ruins. If you are looking for great fight scenes, Akame ga Kill! is packed with plenty of superpower fights that are visually entertaining to watch. One that particularly caught our attention is the fight between Akame and Esdeath. This is how a magical sword fights should be, you’ll never know who will win until the last moment. It is a back and forth exchange between two equally powerful deadly assassins trying to impose their will on each other. Be ready to feast your eyes on one epic fight scene as they use all their powers to defeat one another. We highly suggest you watch the whole series to appreciate the conclusion to their battle.

The story starts off with Illyasviel von Einzbern, a normal school girl that was bestowed with magical powers by the magical Kaleidostick Ruby. Rin Tohsaka, the original master of the ruby, was initially assigned by the powerful wizard Zelretch to gather spirits of Heroic Spirits from legends transformed into Class Cards. She is now pressured to assist Illya in completing her task as her magical presence somehow attracted the Magical Ruby. Both of them must now face fierce rivals who are also after these magical Class Cards unlocking the mysteries behind them. The Fate/Stay Night franchise is known for their epic magical fights and Fate/Kaleid liner Prisma Illya is no exception to this. The battle itself is intense and full of bright magical action. Fans of swords and blades will surely love this epic scene as both Alter Saber and Illya are using their full power to defeat each other. The magical twist to the fight is what made this scene part of our list as it truly is very pleasing to watch. Even if you are not familiar with the franchise, you will still definitely love this anime because of the great story and animation in it.

Kill la Kill is the perfect anime to start off our list because it’s impressive in so many different levels. The story is about Ryuuko Matoi who has been searching for her father’s killer. Equipped with only a half-scissor shaped weapon, she enters Honnouji Academy to try and find the culprit. Unfortunately, the school is ruled by Satsuki Kiryuuin along with some powerful student council members. She stumbles into meeting Senketsu, a talking uniform also known as a “Kamui” or God Clothing. Senketsu helps her to awaken a new power that will give her a chance against the elite members of the school and get a lead on her father’s murderer by looking for the other half of the scissor blade. This is a high paced show overflowing with great action scenes. The build-up on how Ryuuko Matoi encounters Kiryuuin Satsuki is just epic in all proportions. Their amazing uniform transformations will make any anime fan drool plus the impressive battle scene itself is just something words cannot describe. You will have to experience it yourself. If you are familiar with the action that Gainax brings to the table, then you’ll surely have a lot of fun watching this action packed series.
